Yes, three cars: 330 America, Dino 246, and Daytona Spyder. 330 America was least valuable and recently damaged in an accident, so it was laid to rest.

Your only clue (and welcome) is the nephew posting under user name "sjg" above.

the posts are going to be WAY back in this thread, but I did exchange Private Messages with him at the time he posted.

    Good luck!

Reviving this old thread because I thought it might be interesting to note that 5055 GT wasn't always light blue. Here it is with Richard "Korky" Korkes and George Barris at Barris' Barris Kustom City on Riverside Drive in North Hollywood. It's possible the car was there for the repaint to light blue, per Sandra West's request.

While I don't have an exact date on the photo, it must be sometime around 1964. The white car in the background is the as-yet unfinished Ford Mustang Zebra, which appeared in the 1965 film Marriage on the Rocks.

Thank you Wayne! I have been trying to identify the Barris Car for a year or so and have struck out until now. I spoke to Corky's family who told me the brand new car came directly from Hollywood Sport Cars to Barris to get the Candy-Apple metalflake paint job you see here. Barris then delivered it to its owner, a big-time TV Game Show Producer.

Obviously Sandra was not a fan of Candy-Apple Red...

Tom, that's an interesting story! At that time, I believe only a handful of succsessful game shows were being produced in Los Angeles (most were still based in NY), so it shouldn't be impossible to identify the big-time producer in question.

Tom, 5055 GT was originally Avorio/beige. The owner who had Barris repaint it in candy apple red was a young Burt Sugarman, who would go on to become a big-time producer, but had done very little at that time.

The first image you have there isn't Sandra West in 5055 GT; it's a man being buried in his '73 Pontiac. Sandra and 5055 are actually inside the concrete box in your second photo.

I keep hoping a specific person will chime in (he is a lurker), but they haven't yet.

They have all kinds of "unknown" info to fill in lots of details....

Hope so too. This story has fascinated me since I first heard about it many years ago. Seems like she was a very interesting person. Would have liked to have known her.

The nephew and I swapped PMs for awhile...he seemed to want to say more....

She was quite young when she died, sounded like from "lifestyle decisions"...:(

It's entombed by the over pour.

Besides, my friend, found four days after a fatal crash, had already contaminated the vehicle...you would not want to rework that....trust me.
She was embalmed of course, but nature still has it's way.

All I know is she was a woman who loved Ferrari's and that is all I need to know to have wished we could have met.

I'm with Sandra on the "Candy Apple" red. She looks very pretty and happy sat on the bonnet of 5055 GT. Life style descisions don't always feel like descisions when you make them. Rest in peace.

Something about pollution, though I don't see how leaking oil (tell me Ferraris don't leak oil) would seep out of the casket...

So if so, that engine might be in another Ferrari now? I don't want to infer the engine has bad karma but supposedly when parts of James Dean's smashed 550 spyder were used in other Porsches, those cars had accidents.

Where is Stephen King on this?

    1. What could possibly be wrong with returning the oil to Texas soil?

    2. Even if regulations didn't require it, the major mechanical components may have still been removed for financial reasons. Don't forget, while Sandra's request was to be buried in her beloved Daytona Spyder, the probate lawyer made the decision to entomb the 330 America instead, as it was less valuable and had been wrecked only a week before Sandra's death.
