    *Very* nice specification!

The car looks amazing. In fact, from the pics it's pretty much like new. It's very obvious that a lot of effort has been put into that car.

Thanks Rosey, yes it does look nice in the factory delivered state, even like the stock exhaust tips. Weather is looking great, I think this concours will be the biggest we have seen in a long time and a high standard will be present on the day.

Thanks Robb, we are a good bunch us 348/355 owners.

    Cheers Ken.

Thats the level I'm going for over the long term Mike. Just like it was when it rolled off the dealership floor. Its almost there, a respray on the front fenders and headlight pods would get it really close to perfect. I think I need another one as this one gets closer to being finished. I really enjoy working on them. I reckon I have clocked 100's of hours now on this car researching, buying, restoring etc. I have driven it 4000 kms during this time too so its been really enjoyable.

Finished my cars concours preparation today.

Fitted side sills with brand new washers and screws to replace the old ones. I was going to use sikaflex to glue the sills down, but instead used high strength velcro. This way the sills are easily removable in the future without risk or bending the sill, or scratching the rocker panels.

I installed the original floor matts, vacuumed the trunk and interior.

Added a final layer of Ammo creme wax, the gloss and depth of the paint is amazing now.

Engine bay all prepped and looking great. I took the car for a quick drive and all I can say is as soon as this concours is over the stock exhaust is coming back off! The sound is way too tame and is missing that F1 tone like it had with the Tubi Evolution.

Ready to show the car now, happy with its condition and the level I got it to in a relatively short time. Will add some photos of the full car on display after the big day.

    Perfection!!! Great work, Elliott.

I'm interested to hear more about the velcro - do you have a pic of how you installed it? Is it thin enough to keep the gap very small? I like that idea.

Sure Dave, I couldn't bring myself to glue them down on that nice fresh paint. I even had the painter remove all the old glue.

This is the exact product I used. The reason for sikaflex as a bonding agent is its thickness. If the Velcro is placed in 4 spots along the rocker panel top it is the thickness to allow a flush fit of the sills without a gap.

I also used a 3M double sided tape to secure the rubber edging on to the underside of the sill.

I didn't take a pic I'm afraid of the Velcro placement but it's very easy I just trimmed the Velcro sheets into 4 pieces and had 4 hooks and 4 loops on each sill plus the 3 screws at the rubber seal to secure them.

Concours has been and gone, and im happy and relieved to have presented the car in the best state I could, given the time I have had so far on this project.

Results are not official yet. However I know the car did extremely well narrowly missing out on taking overall honours, which I lost to an immaculate original 1967 246 Dino. The car was awarded a ribbon on the day with trophies, points and status of the car to be announced at the Xmas party, I look forward to hearing how it scored.

Here are some pics of the car from the day.

My support team on the day included my best friend, my two kids, my wife and other F chatters. Thanks to all who came up and shared their stories and kind words, I was happy to hear how my restoration had provided some motivation to others on their own cars. A great day it was.

Thanks Dave! You have no idea how much that oem muffler killed the sound of the car! It was perfect pitch now it sounds lame as. Just recovering from all the hard work on the car but before the week is out the bumper is off and the Capristo bypass and Tubi Evo is back on...

Great meeting you. There were a few really nice cars vying for outright win on the day so for your car to rate so highly is a real credit to you. Look forward to hearing the final results. Well done.

Thanks to Dan from Ricambi, I refitted the missing rubber bonnet stopper that he generously supplied.

Also I was missing the front rubber grommet from the front bar that covers the tow hook. I sourced one and refitted that too.

Two small items that further complete the car. Also an order from Eurospares arrived last week including a new front wheel liner (as my current one was a little shabby). And new rubber Ferrari inserts for the new door sills.

I installed the Tubi evolution and Capristo bypass valve so its back to sounding absolutely sensational and I have been driving it every chance I get. Here is a quick video:https://youtu.be/C20hfE3dzwg
