I was in Costco in Chino Hills and some dealer had a new Corvette there on the floor, window stickered at something like $62,000. Now I think the present gen Corvette delivers a lot for the money but I can't help think why the Corvette will never be venerated at Concours (like Pebble) like Ferraris are because I don't see Ferraris at Costco. I mean there's no cachet to say "I bought it at Costco..."
    I'm just sayin'

I never enjoyed a Corvette as a drivers car but with the C7 that has changed. I like it better than my 458 Ferrari. The Z/28 I bought a little time after is better yet.

Emilia Island or pebble beach are for rare cars. Almost anyone can buy a Corvette.

GM has changed the game at least for now. I congratulate GM and their engineers. Kudos to you!

LOL, I saw one at Costco too! I've driven 2 of them (not Z06) and came away with the same impression both times: competent, not very special (in terms of looks, noise, quality, or exclusivity), and I have no desire to own one.

This seems to be a similar but bizarre situation like the Preston Henn thread about his Ft. Lauderdale Ferrari Museum adjacent to his flea market. Can't help but think the brass at Ferrari is displeased with the situation.

I have the opposite problem. I think I will always own one. The vette is better and more capable than any 6 ferraris I have owned, even the near flawless 550 maranello. I race a corvette now and they are indestructible and fast. On track they are so capable that I have not found a replacement. If fact my next racecar could be another vette.

    I dunno.

I buy TP, paper towels, bulk dinner items and other stuff there, why not buy a car. Don't care what brand, if it's a car I want, I'll take whatever discount being a COSTCO member will provide.

I think the vette gets banged up pretty good here, but, for the price of a couple major services, I can drive a nice used corvette and pay a few hundred bucks a year to keep it running.

Something to be said for that.

The OP presupposes that people care whether there make/model of car will ever appear on the lawn at Pebble. I think that is in err. I know I couldn't care less if anything I own winds up on a concourse lawn. I generally don't care for the concourse crowd. They're, IMO, not "car people." They're "art people." I know there are exceptions, but when someone cares more about form than function, I no longer see them as true car people.

Just sayin'...😉 (ignore the wacky heat wave effects, was funning around with my iphone)

Admittedly, I didn't buy it at Costco, but my Cali holds a goodly amount for those biweekly Costco runs. I wish our Costco had a nice Corvette out front. The best we've able to muster is a Volvo station wagon. 😀

I got bored with my Vette...

    1. I drove a C5, felt like the car was trying to be a Diablo, Esprit, and 355.
    2. Owned a C6, felt like someone tried to reverse engineer a 360.
    3. Drove 3 different C7, felt like it wanted to be a 430.

When the time comes I will make sure I call you 1st. Heck...be careful what you wish for. With all the racing we have been doing around the country I might deliver it to your door after a race weekend at CoTA.

American cars offer the best bang for the buck. F car production is not exacted limited when it comes to the cookie-cutter models. In Houston, a Mercedes dealer has a red 458 parked outside on the corner of the lot. Corvettes are over produced production cars. The Z-28 and Viper ACR were produced in limited numbers.

C7 can also deliver performance greater than a 488 LOL, so unless a 430 feels like it wants to be a 488, I'm not sure about that.

You are right--Costco directs you to a local dealer to buy the ar. My original question was more about the status or lack-of-status of where you found it. I wonder sometimes if the fancy car showroom is an anachronism and we should all order on the net, but on the other hand I recently went to RR and Bentley soirees where I was being schmoozed (foreign readers, find that word in your dictionary) to buy their car because of the life style I would live if I owned one of their cars...far far from Costco...
