    Hello Friends,

I plan to be in Maranello this January and was super excited to tour the factory. My account manager at my dealership was gracious in setting myself and my wife up. Unfortunately, I was told that you have to be at least 16 in age to participate

I have two small daughters (9 & 11) that now can't come with me.

Is there any tips or tricks any of you have or any advice you can give me?

    Thanks in advance.

    Have a nice day.

    Hi Wiley,

The car on display is a Factory F355 Competizione dressed up to look like a Challenge car. See this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/challenge-gt-cars/522784-1995-ferrari-f355-competizione.html

Yes, the #23 458 Challenge is the car that Onofrio Triarsi, Jr. drove to win the 2012 and 2013 North American Ferrari Challenge Series Championships.

First ,Male or female, do not wear shorts because you cant do the tour with them on. They will send you to the ferrari shop to buy some long leg trousers.
Second, do not visit the ferrari merchandice shop before the factory visit. The tour finnishes at the end in the shop ;)

Third, if you want a true taste of ferrari at maranello out side the usual commercial tourism, visit Tonys, its a traditional ferrari workshop complete with oily rags and un polished floors. At any one time there is a huge selection of classic ferraris being repaired/ rebuilt, including 250 SWB models. They are very friendly and only 300 meters from the factory gates in a side street.

Fourth, visit the new Enzo ferrari museum, its fantastic and the engine room is mind blowing.

Finally, for the love of god visit the Pinini cheese farm, in the middle of the farm including wondering cows, there is the most magnificent private museum and its free. Modena is full of private collections that people dont know about. You may well be the only ones in the building because its not very well known by the tourists, then check out the F1 exhaust manifold music business just across the court yard. I wont say much so as to keep it as an amazing suprise :) You will not be disappointed with either and will feel you have seen traditional Modena, and its 30 minutes away from maranello.CUP Collezione Umberto Panini | © West s.r.l.

I was just in Italy last week and did the plant tour.

They do NOT do tours in August.

They are very strict about any pictures. Before I even entered the plant, I took a picture of the plant tour bus and got chastised. I didn't see one person take a picture on the actual tour. Yes, the tour guides did place sticker over front and rear cameras on all phones. I think it is a matter of trying to keep people from walking all over on the tour and holding it up while they shoot their own pictures. They were very strict about "staying within the lines" and keeping things moving. Of course you've got a lot of rich, type A people on the tour that are poor listeners and they have to be herded in. So, allowing those types with cameras just likely makes it that much worse. There was likely an incident that occurred at some point since 2006 that caused them to say "no more photos" and get strict about it. Perhaps someone got hurt.

I was there a couple of years back and they didn't cover then lens or take the cameras. The tour guide said they used to take cameras, but due to liability they do not anymore. We only had 2 of us on the tour, so maybe she felt it wasn't necessary. There was a couple that didn't show up. Nice that it was like a personal tour. I went in mid-November just before they stopped the tours for the rest of the year.

Your dealer must have, because it was not included. A few of us asked on the tour, including a couple of guys who were picking there new 488s that afternoon. We were told that was not part of the tour. Neither was the Fiorano test track, i was expecting a drive to the track to see it. Instead we drove past in the bus hardly seeing anything. To say that i have a week in modena every year visiting various private museums, my ferrari factory tour only scores 7-10. I was so disapointed not to see the classic division.
You are lucky to have done so.

Look's, like you visited the Panini Museum, most probably the most exclusive and valid Maserati collection worldwide. The family made a fortune with it's sticker albums, most europeans have collected one of their sticker albums during their growth....

Indeed i did, although i just noticed i spelt "Pinini" but did post a link.
Yes its a great museum isnt it :)
As a person who reguarly visits Modena, i am trying to tell anyone who wants to know that there are some really great historical private museums out there in Modena. Both cars and motorcycles.
Dont just put all your eggs in the factory visit, seek out the more historical and at times rare machines in the hidden corners of Modena.
