Holding On To My Piggy Bank

It is kinda weird that almost every 355 owner I know has little use for a 360, some interest in a 430 and a complete hard-on for a 458. Myself included.

At some point there will be a white 458 spider next to my 355....just not yet. I hate depreciation.

 

Count me out on that..I have absolutely no interest in a 360 or 430..The 458 is the best looking car since the 355, but call me crazy the 355 looks better in my opinion

I don't hate them just prefer stick in the older cars

My truck and camaro are automatic

458 is a blast to drive! And one of the best looking car sculptures to date. Just wish they were a slightly smaller overall.

 

And the problem is?

Not to forget the advantage that if one is in the shop, you still have another toy to play with.

I agree 100%. The 458 or 488 would make a nice addition but not a replacement for a F355.

 

Looking over replacement wear parts on the 458 makes me want to keep my "lowly" 348. At least I can afford it (barely). Brakes on a 458? Heh heh, time for a lobotomy. For that kind of money I can get a complete replacement big brake kit for the 348. Clutch on a 458? Heh, you know where that thing is? For the 348, it's a matter of hours getting it out and back in plus a few bucks to have the disk resurfaced locally. Plus I have a replacement I got for 80 bucks. And, I don't need no stinking computer to install and reset the clutch position sensor once it's in.

Okay, it drives like stink, but come on, you got to be virtually made of greenbacks to support that high-line mistress. There is a reason for their price drop. My prediction is that the 458 will become a better buy than a 430 as a result of the maintenance and parts costs.

 

I think if is only recently that dealers could even service the dual clutch trans in the 458. Previously it was replace the trans and send the original back to Ferrari for a rebuild.

My choice for a 355 replacement would be the 430 over the 360 only because I like the 430 interior better than the 360 though I actually prefer the exterior styling of the 360 a little more.

But I agree, 458s that aren't CPO with extended warranties will drop like flies.

 

What has any of this really got to do with 348's and 355's?

I dont see tbe 458 being a $100k car. It's most likely too much car for the money. The 430 was once there but only for a very brief period. A good 430 can be reasonably had for about $110-125k. In a few years, it would probably drop to $90-100k mark. 458 will stay at $135-175k range for a long time.

 

Agreed, a white spider next to my white 348 will be epic.
