Mike, it's going to be tough to find a running QV for that price but I wish you luck. But who knows, good things happen to those who waits and are patient. If you don't mind, I know a guy there in San Diego who has an 82 GTS for sale and only has 500 miles on a newly rebuilt engine, let me know if interested.

I'm looking too but I'm more interested in an older carbureted 308. I've been interested in them for a long while but only recently came to a situation where I might be able to swing it and the prices on them have pretty much doubled over the last few years. That's probably why there are a lot of them for sale right now. Still, if you really want one you gotta pay to play and I really do want one.

Of course when I do finally get mine the values will tank - lol. Buy high, sell low :)

Even $70k for a classic Ferrari is still an unbelievable bargain.

And it is a US car, which usually trade for lower amounts here than Euros....

I think the only way to get a QV for $30k will require a Delorean with a flux capacitor. :)

I think the only way a QV is possible for under $30,000 now would be to purchase one from a salvage auction unfortunately. I think a much better plan would be to save for a few years and honestly finance a car with a hefty down payment. You will be so much happier in the long run.

Sorry but that isn't going to happen any longer. That ship sailed in 2013.

30K is unlikely to even buy a project 2Vi that needs to be flatbedded to your house.

These cars are worth way more than that in parts these days, even if you count in the disassembly hours.

The search for a low priced project car is a long steady process...I waited four years and scored with a 308 for $30K that only needed TLC...but that was two years ago :(

I remember ten years ago you can still buy a QV between high $20K to low$30K but anymore, in fact every year now, the price will continue to rise, slowly but surely.

How about an 85 Euro with new leather, paint, and suspension, and fresh engine bay?

Thanks. Thought so.. it's in really bad shape, so that wouldnt just be TLC - it would have to be a major overhaul

For a minute I even considered it - would buy and send to Carobu for the conversion, but the state the car is in, it would probably be north of $120k.. for that price I'd rather get a decent boxer
