I find that driving for extended periods of time at +200kph on the German highways really makes me tired, all that stress of concentrating hard and keeping track of which other vehicle ahead might change lanes at an inopportune moment... I doubt I'd try to do 300kph on my Modena.

Which brings me to a question. Aren't even the unrestricted parts of the German highways now "unofficially" restricted to 200kph? Not that it stops some people :)

There is a "Richtgeschwindigkeit" (Advisory speed limit) on German highways, and this is 130kph. You won't be punished if you drive faster, a long as this goes well. In case of an accident, you will however be made responsible for exceeding the advisory speed limit. You then would become responsible also financially, i.e. that the insurance will ask you to cover a part of the damage yourself.

I see, thank you for clarifying. I did max out my AMG at the 250kph speed which is the artificial top speed limitation Mercedes applied to that model of car... But I was happy mostly going around 160kph tops in the sections that allow it :)

Isn't there a drivers package for your AMG which increases the top speed limit up to 300 kph?

I mostly drive late at night on my Germany trips to avoid much traffic and if the road surfaces aren't too bad, you easily can go 300 +

    Brilliant!

Unfortunately the roads were too congested last weekend, therefore achieving 300kph+ was not a possibility.....

You have to try now (1:40 AM). I'm sure your Novitec ECU remapped F12 cracks the 360 easily ;-)

    Good night and regards,

Funny thing is if you do over 200 Km on the autobahn for some time, it feels normal, so only 250 Km and over feels fast. Welcome to Germany :)

Sure, my pleasure Markus. Compared to the effort you made for the Club, my part is just a minor contribution.

I just noted that my prior postings contain some errors. First of all, the trip took place on Sunday and not on Saturday. And last but not least, the engine of the 512 is not a V12 but a boxer. But still a 12 cylinder unit and very beautiful to behold and to listen to... :)

So, what happened then to the V8's? All DNF? Or did they just give up?

Thanks Martin! Here some more pics.

PS: My 512 TR is a V12 too. But the angle of the V is 180 degrees… :)

One V8 (Speciale) did not show up because his car did not want to start (battery problems). And the other V8s were not able to follow the V12s… :D:D:D No, just kidding. All the drivers of the V8 had other obligations during afternoon.

Next trip is from Switzerland to Italy - Portofino.
So all the garage queens will get a break in!

    Was fun last sunday.

    @Marcel and Kiddie
Next time one of you must join in and support the F12 team...

Is that before or after winter hibernation for the F12's?

I'm doing a run down to Milano in my F12 on the 21st right after the GTC4 Lusso event and was planning on hanging-up her keys for the winter after that --- just received my tire pillows yesterday

In Milan I can recommend Hotel Principe Di Savoia

Good valeteer (you can bring your car on your own into garage if you prefer). Very good restaurant, too. If the penthouse is not available call the Kreml and tell Wladimir he has to cancel his reservation ;-)
