Control yokes should be dark chromate green , instrument panel should be black, insignia incorrect, aircraft i.d. letters were usually grey or yellow. other than that, nice paint job. I have researched and prepared a drawing showing how to paint a C-47 circa 1944-45. Also have a B-17 drawing for the "F' or "G" livery circa 1944-45. No glossy paint in sight.

What sort of TAS do you see, typically? Around 400?

370 to 430 is always around 385 TAS. Mostly depends on Outside Air Temp. 370 and below can usually count on 400 to 410 kts TAS

Thanks Bob... I saw that panel, the few that I've seen had black panels. Restored and not.

For every Yin there's a Yang. Westbound coming home from Dallas, 73 to 100Kts on the nose all the way home to KBFL.. Still landed with 1400lbs of fuel though. :).

Shiiiiiiii* One time from VNY to Maui I had 150kts on the nose. 6 hours 45 minutes. Return flight was 3 Hours 40 minutes.

We had to use 2 full crews on the same plane as it was a drop and pick up to be legal.

DANG! :O. Kinda had the same experience coming back from Miami to KSBA in a Bravo I Flew for a rich guy out of KSBA. We had 120 on the nose all the way home. He could of probably Uber'd home faster. He said F this Citation S**t. He sold the Bravo and bought a Falcon 10. The best I ever saw in my old SII was out of LAX to West Palm Beach. Planned to stop in Hot Springs, Arkansas for fuel. Had 168kts on the tail at FL430. Made it non stop to W. Palm Beach in just under 5 hours. Sometimes showing 585Kts across the ground on the Avidine. I remember it was on the day of Hurricane Michelle. Got there right before she made landfall.
I don't know if it is true or not, but, I was once told that Boeing chose to build their factory in Seattle so as to take advantage of the Jet Stream in order to set Time-Distance Records in their new aircraft. Don't know if that is true or just Urban Legend. But, it could work.
