Worth the wait!
Lovely car Alex, great colour. It's definitely correct that early cars were only supplied with a drivers side mirror, dealers in the UK would fit a passenger side mirror on request. My car only has one, it's as it was in Sep '78 when registered. I see your car is '78-79, what chassis number, mine's 24817? Interesting to see you have the gas struts on the rear hood rather than the central post like mine, I know they changed over around 1979. You've also got the GT4 style steering wheel same as mine. I've been told this is wrong, which is nonsense. I've seen many like it, probably had a shortage of the thinner ones in the stores... I know ours is what came with the car, it's been in the family since it was 18 months old with one previous owner. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Staggered is the only way it works. My 81 308 I have in the classifieds was built with 1 mirror. I bought 1 for the right side that's in the trunk but I got used to just 1
That's great to hear, thanks for letting me know about your car having the single mirror. I guess it's like the early testarossas that had only a single mirror too. Yes, it's a 79, chassis no. Is 28295. You mention the gas struts, there was all sorts of detail changing around 79, such as the cig lighter and also I noticed that the order sheet has 106-A-32, and the Salchi paint sticker in the engine bay has 633-8-005 which is the later code for the same colour when Glidden changed to Salchi. I love the factory quirks of these cars😊
