Members of my multi mark car club and me have come down for the two day classic car track days and rally. There are over 800 classic cars here at one of the biggest gatherings of the year in France. We had a leisurely 200 kilometer drive down yesterday including some visits to a wonderful town and of course a great lunch at a country farm. Today we arrived at the track with parking and all arrangements and access guaranteed.

Here is Dante with some of my mates in the early morning sun.

Some owners can choose to run their cars on the track with similar makes. There is a wide range of classes from vintage racers to f3 and all in between.

I wandered down to the prep area and saw a lovely 3.2 awaiting its turn along with a Dino and some more recent fcars.

Over 300 cars participated in a 100k rally through the countryside around Nogaro. There was one stop for refreshments and I found myself parked next to a 430 (I think). I later encountered the same car waiting behind me in the gas station line. The owner and his passenger did not even once deign to say hello or even acknowledge my presence as a human being or glance at the car. Ahh, the disappoinments of being the step children of the Fcar family.

By the way the deep dark blue 328 in the post above was also on the rally and was really beautiful.

There is another half day at the track tomorrow then the drive home. Dante has his newly installed fuse panel from Guido through Red Bay Classics. Couldn't be happier or feel safer. Dante has just been humming along. And I know I am prejudiced, but I think our Mondials have the best sound of any Fcar. The new beast alongside had nothing at all distinctive in its exhaust tone.

    Vespathor,
Your new wheels look very nice. What tyres did you decide to use with the 348 wheels on your Mondial? Apart from the longer wheel bolts required, were there any issues fitting the wheels?

I am not sure what dimensions i have got on. I think it was 205/45 17 front and 235/40 17 rear. Will check when i am at the car next time. Avon on Front that came with the set. And new Vredestein at rear.

No need for spacers, but at the rear it colud have benefited from spacers for good looks.
Used new wheel bolts from Superformance.

Here's an interesting shot of my Mondi at the Oct 1 Dallas Cars and Coffee.

It's a huge show, so most cars show up before sunrise, which makes for some interesting photos.

Eagle eyed observers will note that I lost the center hub cap on the drivers rear wheel. It came off somewhere between home and the show (only about 5 miles).

Interesting color. I'll bet you can get a wrap in that color.

However, in my house, any flavor of orange is banned. (Wife and I are Aggies, and daughter is a Sooner)

Not to worry. The 430 owner recognizes that he is running a high production used car while you were in a smaller production classic Ferrari designed while mr Ferrari was still alive. He wasn't snooty. He felt jealous or unworthy 😉

I doubt it was the car, the guy is probably introverted. Bet you get the same treatment if you were in a la Ferrari. I met myriad of owners and all have been very gracious. If he was being snooty, that's his problem not ours.

Drive in good health my friend
