Just took truck delivery of my Nero 2009 612 about an hour ago. Will post more pics soon. I'm thinking this is going to be a long happy relationship.

612's have the "612 scaglietti" lettering on the drivers side and the "pininfarina" lettering on the passenger side. Your 612 have both lettering on the drivers side?

Exhaust tips are black? From the first picture looks like it.

Both "612 scaglietti" and "pininfarina" badges appear on both front fenders. The sides of the exhaust tips are not chrome, but dark. The rear edge (ring) of the tips are bright.

Regarding the exhaust, the option "sporty exhaust pipes" appears on the sticker, but it is clearly not the double-walled HGTx exhaust. I haven't heard the HGTx exhaust in person, but the sound of this car is definitely more aggressive than earlier models I have driven with base exhaust. The tips also seem to be larger in diameter, though I haven't measured. It does not quite sound like clips of the HGTx exhaust I have heard.

If anyone knows whether "sporty exhaust pipes" denotes only an upgrade in the tips, or some difference in the silencers, please post your information.

I am not entirely positive, but I believe if your monroney doesn't state "HGT2 Package" you don't have the upgraded exhaust. The other clue is they are not double walled.

Yes, the HGT2 exhaust is part of the package....and I do not have the HGT2 package or exhaust. My question is whether the itemized "sporty exhaust pipes" option refers to the tips only (cosmetic) or is there a difference in the silencers. I know it is not the HGT2 exhaust, but someone with more knowledge than I could perhaps let us know if is different than the base exhaust.

The inner pipe on either side has a flap controlled by a vacuum actuator. Anyone know if that's part of the base exhaust?

On the UK OTO option list, Sports Tail Pipes are listed as an option, but I am not sure they were not standard in the US on OTOs. Prices in pounds sterling with and without VAT. US Ferraris sometimes came with some standard features optional on ROW models.

Pneumatic bypass valves were on all 612 exhausts from about 2005/6 timeframe, as far as I know.

This was a US delivery car. Blurry pic but 5th line down u can see the item with the $652 price. Not sure if that corresponds to what you found on the UK cars. I am assuming if it is listed as an option, that it could be ordered without - like the ball polished challenge rims.

Looks like it was an option in all markets and separate from the HGTS/HGTC/HGT1/HGT2 exhaust.
