Sorry, but not Aston, Bentley, Rolls, or MG. Unlike these, the manufacturer of this car is long since defunct.

    Connaught?

Excellent guess, but it's not a Connaught. Unlike Connaught, this manufacturer had some success with road cars as well.

Most of the road cars produced by this manufacturer shared a distinctive grille design, but the model on which this car was based (a dual-purpose sports car) had a particularly recognizable front end, which this special-bodied car retained.

Hint: Think about what you don't see in the photo. What's missing that would normally be visible, even with the image cropped at this point. Now imagine where this feature must be located in order to remain out of view.

I have thought Arnolt-Bristol for some time but I didn't see Arnolt on the wiki link and Bristol was shot down earlier.

Another good guess, but it's not an Arnolt, Bristol, or Arnolt-Bristol.

I'm going to go with operator error: I didn't bother to scroll down and read the Former manufacturers.

My guess is this car was from the works of Sydney Herbert Allard.

Not Allard. Going to make your way through the list alphabetically? :)

LOL. After your post, I switched gears and went reverse alphabetically. Narrowed it down to about 10 possible mfgrs. :p
Need to let someone else have a crack at it so I don't get guess-banned for striking out repeatedly.

Hey, the name of the game's Guess the Car, so no penalty for incorrect guesses. If it was Identify the Car, then yeah, you'd probably be pushing your luck at this point. :)

    Ok, that makes it easy...
    Front lights.

So it has to be a Healey Silverstone wuth coupe body from an unidentified maker.

Sigh ... it is so generic...
Looks like something Vauxhaul/GM could have designed in the 1960s.

Grille looks Opel-ish... as does the emblem.
