Walnut on mine. Like the color a lot; very classy and classic. Plus easy to keep looking clean.

Well I pulled the trigger on one - although for my taste I stuck with something a little more traditional. It's an '09 6-sp manual in Casino Royale with Obsidian Black interior and piano black fascia. It looks a little darker in this photo because 1) Casino Royale seems to look different in different lights, and 2) I picked up the car in Calgary and drove it back to Illinois, so this was in Montana after 1.5 days in the rain. Epic trip - lovely car - so glad I just went ahead and did it.

I agree on the green - lovely color and much under appreciated in the US. If I could have found something like this BRG DBS in the US I would have jumped on it.

Congrats Ed! Great color combination, does the paint have metal flake in it? There's a reason why you see so many in silver / grey, they look amazing in any shade of these colors. As far as pricing, don't worry about it, your realizing a dream however I think the elevator is still going down and may bottom out in the $80K range, it's a modern classic that's a good long term buy. Let us know what you think of the driving experience?

I read on an Aston forum that only about 50 DBS Volantes with manual gearboxes were produced. That site's server is down though, so I can't check to confirm if that figure applied to all DBS Volantes or just UK-market ones. Seemed like it was worldwide though, and if so it's going to like finding a needle in a haystack. However, Miller Motorcars in CT has a manual DBS Volante, but it's not priced.

If you want a 6 speed V12 Volante, might as well open up the search to a DB9 as well. Not quite the bling or exclusivity of the DBS, but it will get the job done - if rowing an open car is what you seek. With the stick, the 9 will have some level of exclusivity and retained value as well. Just as much fun!

I meant where you bought it, not where you placed your for sale ads. Come to think of it, was it the one from Miller?

yes I bought it from Miller then sold it privately. I bought 2 astons at the same time the debs and a vanquish S I then sold the DBS as I much prefer how the vanuquish S drives. I love looking at the debs was not crazy about how it drive never bonded w/ it.

Some beautiful cars in this thread, but I have to ask you guys - are they drivable? I ask because I took delivery on a '17 Vanquish last month and it's been in the shop much of the time - and continuously since October 12 (infotainment hardware and software issues, as far as I can tell). I'd have loved to pick up a Vanquish S but now am afraid of the marque ... and looking for a lemon law expert. Crazy. Am I not appreciating a normal part of the AM ownership experience?

I am no expert so don't go by me, but it does seem to me that astons are kind of differet from the 05/06 vanquish S and prior vs everything they made after that time period when they switched factories. they don't quite seem to be the same post the 06 hand made Vanquish cars..

The 05/06 Vanquish was built in the old factory in Newport Pagnell. I believe the DB7 was built in Bloxham (Tom Walkinshaw's old factory?). Gaydon is the new factory, on a larger scale.
The old hand built cars weren't nearly as complicated as others, mostly because Aston has always been a hand to mouth company. Even the DB7 was based on some Jaguar bits.
I know Ford bought them, but resources were still tight.
These complex electronics are tough for everybody, and even more so for small companies. Perhaps the Mercedes tie-in will provide some improvements in these areas.

quite a noticeable difference in the solid hand made feel and special factor of the hand made vanquish S vs the ford parts bin feel of a dbs.

Thanks JimShadow and Funrari - I couldn't be happier with it. Even if the DBS 6-speed continues down in value it'll be one hell of a ride and one that I'm really glad I jumped on when life presented the opportunity. I can't get enough of this thing - absolutely LOVE it.

I can feel your emotions in this post...

I have to ask you : Have you owned or do you own any other exotic that woos you the same way as this car does now? What is it about this car?

I have always fancied AM looks and would love to try one out but I am never letting go of my Ferrari. So if I was able to get an AM in addition to my F-car would I be competing with one another or would the experience be different altogether?

I like your car btw, please post an interior pic too.

I also have a Ferrari 550 as well as a DB9 Volante 6 speed (and a few others). Completely different cars...but like them both for different reasons. The DB9 seems finished to a higher standard. The best shifter is in the Aston, best pedal position and feel in the 550. Steering feels a hint sharper in the 550. Both accelerate with vigor. Hard to tell which one is faster, but that honor probably goes to the Ferrari. Best exhaust note goes to the Aston.

If I had to choose just one to keep for the personal pleasure aspect it would be the Aston. The Ferrari is...well...a Ferrari. And a damn nice one. Definitely the blue chip car of the two for collectability. At the end of the day though, you can't beat open top motoring with a sweet V12 under the hood... :)

We are kind of the same mindset except for which car I would keep. I have a 550 as well. Sold my DB9. The Aston was probably one of the most beautiful cars I've owned but it lacked something. Ride quality, electronics come to mind but it was so beautiful much is forgiven (kind of like some women I've known). The 550 is a brute with much better ride quality and power delivery IMHO so I'll keep it for a while. Still, always looking at the AM from time to time. I still prefer the looks of the DB9, Vanquish over the current offering. I'm going to test drive a DBS to see if that gets me back into the Brand.

I have a V12 Vantage and the car is a dream. The manual gearbox with that creamy and
wonderful sounding V12, just stunning. It handles very well and the build quality for me is on a level with a 599 GTB, which I owned for 6 years. Besides it is not a big car and just a perfect mix of old school and new technology. On the track it's not the fastest but it delivers fun at normal speed. Besides it is beautiful and not that "loud" as other sports are. Compared with the 550 it is the better choice but of course the more modern car.
