The only lot I know of that's been paved is the small Lot E. The rest look just like last year.

Yeah, I've seen more than one incident like the one described above with the McLaren. Literally laying all over the hood with riveted & rhinestoned jeans, etc. Unreal. They just don't give a f***.

As for the difference between Lot F and Lot L for the poster further back in the thread, the quality of the lots is the same, but Lot L is pretty near Turn 9. Lot F would be a PITA. I'd leave the Ferrari at home, and park the 4x4 in Lot L.

My ticket calls for PSL tent Access. Is it worth visiting ? I am at MG 4A I assume it is a good location. First time getting this ticket. Any input? Thanks.

Lot F is pretty much just great for Turn 12, which is one of the best turns IMHO.

Yes, for two reasons: Less of a crowd and a roof. The PSL tents and Velocity Lounge (to which you should also have access) all have TV screens and a bar, but the big advantage to me has always been the ability to escape the crowds and the sun.

Tents have a bar and furniture, with food vendor trailers adjacent .

So, yes a good spot to rest and enjoy shade

Manda Racing should arrive today to spot the RV, and then we are off to The Salt Lick, and the Broken Spoke.

If anyone needs the actual address to my HQ on South Congress at Live Oak, its:
    2203 Lindell Avenue 78704

    832 801-0670

Call before you get to the track, as I don't know if they brought Cell On Wheels from AT&T or not this year.....if not, towers will saturate.

Come get your picture in the giant sculpture in the esplanade!!

Landmarks facing Congress are Adlucent (to the north), and if you are at Lucy's Chicken (great food BTW) you have gone too far south!

It's a big green house with wrap around porch, so while the north porch looks like the front, it actually faces west to Lindell.

South Congress of course has great live music every weekend....but maybe Taylor will drop by, slumming...;)

Well, looks like all is ready. All the COTA directional signs are up on Hwy 71, east and west bound and IH130.

If coming from the Houston area, the first sign just past Bastrop points you down the back roads of Wolf Lane. If it were me (and I live here), I'd go another 3 miles to Kellam Road. Signs posted there as well. Kellam Road takes you directly to COTA.
Perfect weather and COTA is saying it'll be the 2nd biggest crowd ever. Let the festivities begin.

What is the track rule on bringing snacks or bottle water in? (I've got a 9 year old with us)

One sealed bottle per person allowed. No food. But, for snacks, wrap them in your rain jacket/windbreaker or stuff them into the bottom of your bags. I usually carry a few granola bars to help through the day.

Awwww, man!! You're making me want to make the drive down. If only the rest of the world wasn't congregating in Austin too.

What are the must-do things at the track before the race starts?

Do I just glue myself to my seat during the race itself?

Arrive in Austin from California on Saturday afternoon.

This is going to be fun.

I'd say it partially depends on what kind of seat you have and where it is. If you're gen adm, I'd want to at least walk the accessible parts to see how long it takes to get from one area to the other - it can take a while. That way you will know how to time your walks so as not to miss any on-track action.

Otherwise, Grand Plaza area is where a lot of the food/souvenirs/displays will be. Lines can be long, so again, you may want to scout out ahead of time so you don't miss anything.

Vettle! Very nice, I arrive Saturday morning to Austin for the F1 weekend. Weather looks great and Ferrari is looking better this year for COTA. Let's hope Vettle or Kimi make podium.

    Ciao,

    Stanislaus R.R.

Glad you enjoyed it. Didn't get a chance to make it this year, but it is always fun.

Several years now...go by, and tell him:
"Get a haircut, ya' damn hippie""

He lost my dog TWICE, over the weekend.

It would be dead, except he went to the Southside Pizza, before crossing seven lanes of South Congress!

I got phone calls, off the engraved tag he had, no rabies vaccine yet.....
