Like you mentioned earlier, if the car is already registered here, the difficult job is done. Except for California, whole other world there. For example, aftermarket exhausts would fail the "entry" inspection. If the car has a 50 State certification label for emissions, it certainly makes it easier. Lots of hoop jumping for the buyer/new owner otherwise.

I think you need to step away from the overseas cars and just buy a stateside car. You dont get to pick and choose what you want to comply with the DOT does that for you.

Does the sticker on 348s or 355s actually say 50 state compliant?

    My 1990 348ts had one.

I'll post a photo later this evening.

Plus the buyer had a lot of questions/concerns, and rightly so, to make sure his registration process for California would go smoothly.

I'm glad to say, that it "passed with flying colors".

My '88 Saudi spec Mondial, registered in the U.S. since the mid/late 90's (can't recall exact year), was wanted by two buyers in California but they declined due to the registration risk (denial). That car is in PA right now.

you might be right... funny thing is, this car is likely only about 100 miles from buffalo and farther south than most of NH, VT and Maine. proximity should count for something!! ;-)

You would think! I recently visited Canada and found out there's a "wall" that blocks cellular connectivity, goes all the way to the moon. ;)

Now if I'd only known, I could have had an approved access process in place beforehand ($12 monthly fee).

I can tell you Canadian 348s do not. I am guessing the 355s as well. That's why you need to go to Ferrari and get the letter saying it is.

Im saying people are asking for something that these modern cars don't say on any sticker.

My old 1979 930 had a sticker that specifically stated not for california use, but it was 49 state compliant, so good everywhere but cali.

These cars dont say that, but peps in cali seem to be the only ones who really need to wory about that thing and as such need to educate themselves on their laws and whats what.

It comes down to a fact that most states dont have to deal with the bull**** that cali does. So for me I ask does it have headers and cat deletes?

    "Just a sticker".

Try to give that line of thought to a potential buyer. You're more likely to get your price if they have no concerns. ;)

Not sure if I can contribute to the discussion in terms of value, appreciation (or lack of depreciation) etc etc

However if you are looking at a Spider (and maybe non-Spiders too), U.S. Cars come equipped with motorized belts. Canadian cars do not (they have "normal" belts). If I had the choice, strictly from a convenience and maintenance point of view, I would go non-motorized belts hands down. Motorized belts are really a pain to use, and often a sensor light is "on" or they need attention.
