Alan, looks like we will be there late both Friday and Saturday nights with the Ford Team, and then sunday is a cruise / scavenger hunt. Send me your cell number again please.
I talked to Digman52 this morning, the Ford presentations will actually be AT COTA, during the race....the corral will be on site somewhere... It looks the other after party is MY house, on South Congress at Live Oak...I can put 40-50 cars in the Adlucent lot, on the north side of Live Oak, and then we can line the esplanade which the giant tile mosaic sculpture/chair/photo op sits. So, the stop light at S. Congress at White Oak, go west, and park at the office building. Walk south to the big green house. If you get to Lucy's Chicken, you passed it. We can chill and then walk north up Congress to C Boys. Continental Club not that much further but would probably drive to go that far... All makes welcome.... Alan
C Boys actually has a parking lot, might hold 20 or so before it spills out to curb parking on Congress. It's all pretty chill just come on by!!
There were two Weekend Passes to the Porsche Corral, I flagged them a friend in San Antone, but I think they are sold....

Fun but hot day at the track. Big Tex made his way to the Ford Paddock Suite, and visited with us, Doc C and Dryhole Mark. Met Camillo, our GT designer, as well as a fun visit with John Hennesay. Today's the race, go FORD GT ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice time with my girls, wish they would move this to either early Spring or later in the Fall, the heat is brutal, this year and last....it is keeping folks away... Nice podium for Scuderia Corso Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, that was SOME weekend!!! Maybe they should hire me, (like Mario) to try to get the word out what a wonderful, open paddock event this is!! Many thanks, to all the Dallas gang, for breaking me in, to the Paddock Building!! Once there I just hid out for two days!!! Not really, because we have to HIT the bars, too! The Velocity Lounge, opens early!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, you "sort of" get your wish, as the schedule next year, splitasapart the IMSA event from WEC. WHO makes these terrible decisions?? I really liked the US Series, and then the International series, treatment. It made it easy to explain, to the newbs. A fine young man, ROTC at Texas State, stood by me that first morning. By the time I explained all the LED placement guides on the cars, and gave him my Spotters Guide, he was over the top, fired up!! Pit Walk on Friday.... Broken Spoke, Thursday night. I told you it would be a party!!! The Georges, rockabilly out of San Antonio.... Speaking of San Antone, it was a shame Sfumato could not join us, but I fed him pictures and event updates, he finally found the broadcast, to watch!! I will try to get everything edited and post as I had a GREAT weekend, thanks to the Dallas GT Ford guys....and some others....
I am convinced there is not an area of the track you are unable to sneak / talk you way into. We took your lead, and instead of parking in the Ferrari / Ford GT Corral at the main entrance, we bulled our way into the Porsche Club lot by the main grandstands on Saturday. We had success both nights leaving, in getting rides in golf carts, which was a major plus !
That last driver, John McCann is a name to know. He was working for the State, when they released the matching money, that saved the day originally. One morning, he grabbed me to "Ferry carts" from Turn 11 back to Main Grandstand. I critiqued his line thru the turns, after several runs... He never forgot that! Wait until I get to the empty Sky Box party !!!!
I did get lost, into the Second Floor of Timing and Scoring, but a nice man sent me out your way!!! LOL!
WEC will remain on the same dates next year as well. But, the IMSA cars are moving COTA up to Round 4 on May 5-7, 2017. Will be curious to see how both series' schedules at COTA end up next year.
I know it is a bit late, but check out my Blog/Article about the event, here! We are trying to do more of these and more often/ up to date for events such as Lone Star Le Mans. Feedback is greatly appreciated
Thanks Booker! The LeMans event is truly the most welcoming, open time to be on COTA. They are splitting the two events next year, as noted above.
