Just for info. Consignment here in the UK seems to range between 5 and 7 % with 20% sales tax (VAT) on the consignment fee, so for a GBP 100,000 sale at 7% you pay 7000 to the dealer plus 20% on that so GBP 8400. So it does eat into your return.
The upside is that dealers claim they get you a better price with their reputation, warranty and marketing. Perhaps more importantly they can offer finance deals to the buyer. Not sure how it goes in the US but here most people buy on credit, and ta the moment money is cheap. Anyway, glad you keeping her.

I heard it said somewhere (on a TV show, maybe chasing classic cars) that every car has two prices - What the owner thinks its worth and what buyers are willing to pay. And sometimes they are not even close.

owners sometimes have an emotional connection that can make them reluctant or enthusiastic about parting ways.

with so few transactions, they are not like stocks, the "market" is unique to each transaction. its impossible to know what the market is, but with data, one can know what the market was...

Glad you kept her until next season. Based on list prices from last year to this year it seems asking were strong vs 2015. I looked at different cars ranging from 2007 all to way to 2011. I settled on my 2010 HGTE and I believe got a reasonable car and price. My car had the history and services I wanted so I just pulled the trigger. Did I paid more? Who knows...

These cars are a bargain and a LOT for the money! They were $300k++++ new!!!

The fellow I bought mine from -- second owner at 1526 miles -- paid a 30% premium over the $328,000 sticker. In total that equaled $420,000 in 2007. But he could afford it -- now has a F12 and an Aventador.

Sounds right for a car with 24k miles. Mine has about 10k less miles and I'm asking 10k more.

I think your asking price is fair. I remember looking at the same year and depending on options they were around your ask. I found two 2007 with less options (non daytona seats) and 12-16k miles around $145k. I just didn't jump on them as they didn't have what I wanted.

Well I've moved on to a new chapter in Ferrari ownership, I have traded my 599 for a 2012 FF, hoping to collect it mid next week.

It was the third I owned since taking delivery of the first in 2007 and IMHO was better for the HGTE pack. I will miss it but found I just wasn't using it after taking delivery of my 458 Spider last Summer.

Thanks for all the advice and guidance over the years, might be back one day :)

Or to put another way from a different perspective.

Every car has two prices. What a buyer wants to pay and where a seller is willing to sell. The two are sometimes not even close.

I have found this to be true many times when trying to buy unfortunately. ;-)

Nice car, is it an optical effect or your front license plate is smaller than standard. If yes do you remember where you had it done? Also what plate older are you using (custom made maybe?). Thanks!

    Hi Oliver

Yes plate is 3/4 size, made by Fancyplates.com in Ireland.

The holder is custom, fairly simple using 2 brackets to two of the bolts that hold the front undertray. Having said that you could probably source a smaller factory one i.e. Swiss/ Italian if preferred

I kind of disagree. When I was shopping for my first Fcar having the Fcar dealer do a complete service was a big selling point for me. Without complete Fcar dealer service, having quite a few 599s currently on the market and being a private party I believe you will have to be very price competitive with dealer prices. At least with a complete service and PPI you will be on a similar price level as a Fcar dealer IMO. You should have a much wider buying audience.

Completely agree. I bought my F430 from a private party, the previous owner had a complete service and inspection done by the local dealer. I spoke to the service manager who verified that the car needed absolutely nothing and it made me feel very comfortable with the purchase. If I would have been offered a similar car for a lot less knowing that it needed the service, I would have been more hesitant.

In my opinion there are not "steals" out there. You certainly can get lucky and find a cheaper car with all services but in my experience you get what you paid for. Specially at this level of car you want services done, history, etc etc.

Surprising how little interest there has been in this car other than from people offering wholesale numbers. I wonder if I am doing something wrong in marketing or the price at $153k is still to high?

You look to have a very nice car. I sold my 2010 red/beige w24k miles, fresh service, and new tires a year and a half ago for $160k. It had 1 previous owner, always under factory warranty, was super clean and still took 5 months to sell.

Don't know where the market is at now.

My friend looked up auction results. A car with the same spec as mine with slightly more miles went for $143k in January at auction. I've dropped the price on mine to $153k. See what happens.

imhe, selling a >$100k car is no easy task

imhp, those manheim numbers are retail numbers

every highline auction i've been to is littered with retail buyers.

I think your car is a very nice car if I had a bigger garage and my wife would not end my life immediately I would buy it. I think at current pricing level you should get more interest IMO.

That's about it. Most of these cars are sold with little or no inspection. Just about all you can do is factor in the big items. Stick v auto; mileage; paint work; and then color. If you tell me the year, I'll run Manheim for you.
