I'm a pilot and pilots are known for big egos and big watches (among other things, lol). Sure, I'm a confident fella but never been into watches or wearing jewelry except for my wedding band. However, I like the simplicity of this "Veglia" design. Very classy.
Similar but not exact. I don't care for the yellow hands. I do like the chrome bezel better than gold though.
I have the exact same watch in my collection,I bought it in Paris in 90',that was my second Ferrari Formula watch,, The first was my red dial lndy that l bought onboard of Alitalia airline in late 89' from memory.
I can understand, of course. If you are looking for a "Motochron", it will probably be difficult; your best bet would probably be E-Bay Germany, but these do not pop up very often. And searching all over the net with the usual search engine doesn't bring many answers... Rgds
Simply the best! The subtle but unmistakable resemblance to the 308 clock face and thus the connection to the 308 series is remarkably profound, much better than all other Ferrari branded watches or explicit 308 marking watches. It's truly THE watch IMHO!
I agree it is better than some F watches. But it's not great. Much like the Swiss railway watch, the design is completely wrong for the wrist. You can't just shrink things and hope they look good. They rarely do. As you scale down, proportions and level of detail should change accordingly.
If I want the best functional sports car, it's not the 308. If I want a sports car with good ergonomic, it's not the 308 too. It just has that little magic beyond practicability and rationalism.
Ok! Let's get real! We all know this is the "creme de la creme" of Ferrari watches Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very true. However, if you want the most elegant sports car, the 308 is a very strong contender. If you want an elegant watch, it's not going to be the 308's clock shrunk in a microwave
The replica Veglia clock watch is too subtle for me. I was thinking about putting led's on the Ferrari logo on my watch
And since noone mentioned it so far. THIS IS the 308GTB watch. But only this single one. Why? Because that picture also shows the wrist and dashboard of the admin of The Ferrari 308 GTB Register http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachments/308-328-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/2208226d1457300552-ferrari-308-watch-308_watch.jpg
I think you forgot the title of thread, it's special watches for 308/328, so elegant like the 308 or not is not really my focus here
True story......I was stopped at a light and a really cute woman pulled up next to me and said, 'I really like your car! It's really boss!'. To which I responded, 'Thanks, it's just like Magnum P.I.'s' When she gave me this blank look on her face, I knew she did not have a clue what I was talking about.....LOL.....talk about feeling old....LOL
I was wrong... its a GMT II - with the Pepsi dial... I looked it up in my Rolex Book... looks if its a an 87 its a 16710 reference movement... regardless great watch. Sub's don't have the arrow hand... the GMT's are used for telling time in two different time zones at once.... originally intercontinental pilots liked them....that's why I thought Air King at first....I have a sub from 1988 my parents bought me as a graduation present.
I remember back in the 80's when they advertised the Motochron watch in Road & Track - I thought it was kind of cheesey... but having owned both the 308 and 328- it too on more significance to me. I think I paid $700 for the watch 6-7 years ago, bought in Germany. I've worn it 4-5 times... I'm not a fan of the band so I may change that. It's more for just having the car & watch... the clock in my car does not keep good time!!!! at least the watch does!
That's my watch and for some reason I have been thinking it was a Submariner. I have no idea how how I got those wires crossed in my head and I have owned it since since about late 1999. I think I am losing my mind What is 16710 reference movement mean? I had a dealer look at it out in LA during the FCA Nationals back in about 2001. He looked at the serial number and told me 1987 (I think... not so sure about that now, maybe he said 1989). Beyond that I have no idea anything else about it.
yes, it's a GMT II 16710. I have a GMT II 16713. Definitely not a Submariner. GMT II joins a classic powerful design with elegance and modernity: exactly like the 308 shape does ciao
That's a Magnum pi reference! It means that Tom Selleck himself set the time on that watch...or maybe not
