I saw "Doctor Strange" yesterday and noticed he was wearing a Jaeger-LeCoultre. Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' Keeps Time With A Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual
They are without a doubt the best value for the money of any watch brand. Look at the detailing. Hear the whir of the winding rotor. Fantastic. Matt
I had a Reverso, which I really wanted, but it was too small for my wrist so I traded it for a Pepsi bezel GMT, $1900 and a box of good cigars LOL.
I've had a grande reverso for near 25 years. I love it. Always loved the "tank" watches and was looking at Cartier, when I learned about the Reverso, which I think is the perfect deco styled tank. Looked for an original gold 1930s edition, but, the 5K was a strech for me back then, so I settled for this one. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I actually wrote the book on vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre, reviewed here: Jaeger-LeCoultre Book: a Guide for the Collector I normally don't put out shameless ads for myself like this, but this seems to be a propo! Thanks.
Big fan. A very important brand and fantastic 'value for money' if such a notion can be spread on haute-horologie. The Reverso is a 'must-appreciate' if not a 'must-have' for any watch fan.
Do you own or thinking to buy? If you own: I have only ever seen one and that was on the wrist of a guy I sold a Patek Nautilus to. He considered it his fun watch. And it is- big, chunky, fun yet a properly decent watch. If you're thinking to buy: It carries a big ticket for what it is, plenty more to think about at that price range.
thinking of buying. like the size and the watch looks nice w/ strap. what are the other options you think are worth looking at? in house movement?
Also a huge fan. Under the radar as almost nobody has heard of let alone can pronounce them (except for real watch fans). If you want to keep a low profile but still wear a quality watch, they are a great choice. I had a master control with date only on a brown strap for about five years but recently decided I wanted something a bit sportier that could be worn every day on a bracelet. Wore it daily for years until the strap went and was due to replace the strap when I stumbled upon a killer deal on a JLC master compressor chronograph on a bracelet that I couldn't pass up. Absolutely love it. You will never regret purchasing a JLC and I will add another like a reverso someday. Some day I hope to get a PP 5980 chrono but can't swing one of those, yet. Best of luck as once you get hooked on watches, it is a tough habit to break in a good way (like cars). Mike
One of mine. White gold Day-Night Duo. I also have a stainless Master Geographique with a black dial. Matt Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've owned a bunch, my favorite being a vintage 18K Memovox alarm model. The g/f, when I first met her, was wearing a Day/Night 18K Reverso and was impressed when I noticed what it was! If you like the brand, pick up an Atmos clock-some vintage models are affordable, and if you don't mess with it it'll run for ages without servicing. Just make sure not to move it once you get it set up, and lock the balance if you have to move it. I have a rare Tiffany dialed moonphase Atmos and it's the bomb.
Santa was nice to my wife and I this year. My first Reverso was a wedding gift from my wife 35+ years ago. Her first Reverso was at the birth of our oldest son, while visiting Geneva. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Since posting this last month, I have picked up my first JLC - indeed a Reverso. Fantastic deal on my AD's last Grand Taille (discontinued).
