Those are the wheels the car came with. Can't think of any cheap wheel to roll a boxer around with. Mini spares are $10K for 4, Original 15's are more than that.
Its a thought but most cars Im painting have no suspension in them so its not a factor. Its really no different than me (or you) having the task of reassembling a freshly painted shell and turing it into a running driving car again without scratching the fresh paint. The spline drive are the hurdle. Not cheap either if used in a modified steel wheel.
Very true. And, again, I'm not being critical of the body shop but the inherent environment always lends concerns for anything that "can not get damaged" I worked for a body shop for about a year when I was just out of high school and some of the most talented guys on the planet could not keep Bondo out of the interior of the cars I also don't know if those wheels are OEM, expensive or not - they just looked like the final ones..
Dave, those wheels were fabricated by the late, great, Boyd Coddington. I always like the stepped look and the rears being 17x13 offered the opportunity to run 335's. New Michelin PSS all the way around. Combined with the Olin suspension, the car rides like a dream. Adding the 512M motor (sits lower in the chasis) and losing a bunch of weight in removing the turbos, intercoolers and plumbing should, as boxerman speculated above, make for some rousing performance!
Hi John - cool. I don't know anything about Boxers so I had no idea if they were original or not. My only knowledge of Boxer is coming from Newman threads which are great BTW, I am very partial to black - great choice
A few shots of the front clam paint right out of the gun. Wet sand an polish and it'll look insane. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

No info printed on the springs. John would need to chime in on details. Image Unavailable, Please Login
They are the STJ17500 adjustable damper units, dyno tested and custom valved. Ride like a dream. I have a large book of info and receipts on the car, but did not readily see spring rates. If I come across them, I will post for sure.
