There were a couple of 930s that were no sale at Auctions America this weekend @ Hilton Head Motoring Festival. Red/blk 79 and Silver Blk 79 Both looked nice with shiny paint a numerous wrong details, reserves were over $100k but neither reached $100K during bidding. At the other end f the spectrum a running driving 356 barn find was expected to bring between $200/$250 sold for $605K !! This thing still had the original dust, dirt and poop in place that it was found with!
1979 Porsche 930 930 Turbo (911 Turbo) | eBay Looks like a nice car but only bid to $54k. has the market gotten that soft?
It's in Canada no cars do good there. Most cars are still being bid high on there. Cars seem to be hit for 20% when they are across the boarder. Not sure if this has something to do with import tax or the hassle of finding a broker.
What's funny is how fast this basket case 79 sold today. In a matter of hours. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/935510-1979-porsche-930-turbo-project-50k.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The car was previously converted to 964 look. Going to do a complete bare metal respray and install factor 930 bumpers etc. Came from the factory with cork interior and sports left and right.
Outstanding photo collection of Bruce Canepa’s 1979 930 with only 1626 original miles. The inspection dots are still present on the intercooler, fan bolt, A/C compressor, and oil filler tube. Also note the tool kit with only one red tab vs. two that were present on even later '79 U.S. models (perhaps the change occurred with the Nippondenso A/C compressors). 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey Rich this the same car I posted on posts 1095 and 1096. Another great car to reference for restoration purposes. What is the significance of the red tabs on the tool bag? I don't believe my '79 had any tags, is it a QC redundancy? BTW check out the final sale price of $58K, just a minor markup..
I'm not sure about their significance but my U.S. '79 #1164 has two red tags. Image Unavailable, Please Login
For '79 model year, I have seen 2 red tags (seems most common), one red tag, one red tag and one yellow tag, one blue tag and tool kit bag in brown with a yellow tag. I have also seen them with no tags. Some of the insides of the bag are plain and some have those stripes that Canepas bag has.
U.S. 79 #0724 and 79 #0848 have tool kits with two red tags. As you mentioned, they likely varied but it would be nice to solve the mystery of the tags. Garrick Lew's old car? If so, lot of neat tricks on that car.. will you be bringing it back to stock, or enjoying as the beast that it is? Regards,
