Sorry I forgot your not allowed an opinion on here! I must apologise and bow to your superior knowledge and hope you'll allow me to gracefully step down from this thread.
You're allowed to have your opinion, but i'm just curious how you arrived at this conclusion that it was more luck than skill?
Rosberg only needed to finish THIRD in this race. Why would he have risked making contact with Verstappen by defending too vigorously so early in the race, when his chances of winning the championship were at stake? Verstappen had nothing to lose, but Rosberg everything. Can't you understand that? In the end, Rosberg was rewarded for his good judgment and finished second.
yep do agree here. He knew his chances of finishing 3rd here would be acceptable, and logically speaking he'd very likely finish 2nd in ABD at least due to the car. If it doesn't finish 2nd, it has a problem, thus the championship is gone regardless.
Someone being overtaken on the first lap is more luck than skill? You're not using much logic. I'm trying to get a real answer out of you, not one thats emotion based.
I don't understand your statement, unless we're talking cross purposes? The logic and real answer is in the facts. These are the best and most highly paid drivers in the world and being overtaken by a car (which on paper is a lesser car) can't just be put down as bad luck, its more about skill aimed at the driver doing the overtaking, especially given the conditions. The luck in getting 2nd place was Red Bulls decision to change the tyres. It can't just be coincidence that the same happened at Silverstone.
Or its more about keeping your nose clean for the championship. He doesn't need to push, he needs to coast. Why risk an incident?
+1 Its not like he'd have lost the championship by finishing 2nd or 3rd. If he let himself be overtaken for 4th or lower, then he'd have a point.
