Just got this message a bit ago. Car also seems to have lost power steering and the motorized head head lights stopped working. **** car off a few times error still present. Anyone see this to this extent? Should I disconnect battery? Nearest dealer is a haul so if this is something easy if like to explore that first.

Car sits on a tender and is driven several times a week. 2011 with 14.6k miles.

I think that Ferrari's if you lose electrical charging the car drops things electrical usage things to give you most things as usage. I ran into one of my Ferrari, 350, 430 or 458.

Good looking to find out what is wrong.

Something close to this just happened to me. I started the car and got every warning light and failure code possible. It did crank over a little bit slower than usual. After a short drive I shut it off and and restarted it, zero warning lights. I elected to change the battery since it was an original unit. My car is also a 2011. Zero issues since then so far.

What is the voltmeter reading? This could be a battery issue.

If the issues persist upon several restarts I would take it to the dealer.

I had the same issues when my 2010 OEM battery was about to go dead last year. Charging seemed normal but voltage dropped quickly after the first start. If you are still using the original 2011 battery, it's time for a new battery regardless of the symptoms in question. There are many old threads here about battery replacement options. I'd not recommend Ferrari's OEM battery; there are much better alternatives. I had a German made, WorldSource One battery installed at a dealer a year ago; it works very well since. It pains me to say that the battery is only non Ferrari part in my 458. To me, it's amazing that the 488 doesn't even offer a lithium battery. Audi, Porsche, McLaren, all have gone lithium for their sports cars.

Car was around 13.5 volts st idle. I put it on a trickle charge and it's showing green and after a few hours still has the errors. Should I try to disconnect battery and reconnect?

I have this on my F12 on and off for a while even after changing battery... I read a thread here about someone found out from the dealer's network that the problem is actually caused by the startup motor and the startup sensor...something like that... you should do a search in this forum. My experience is that change battery will only get you a few months before the problem surface again.

What is the voltage when the car is not running? How old is that battery? This sure sounds like a battery problem to me. If I were you I would replace the battery. It's an easy fix and will likely solve the problem.

Your issue sounds like a classic weak battery issue. I use a CTEK charger instead of the Ferrari trickle - I've had better results after the switch.

After on tender all night I turn key it was showing just under 12 volts. Probably battery, will start there.

Would do so too ... it is a very simple job imo.

My no-name digital trickler always shows 13.3 volts ....

The initial pre cranking voltage should be between 13-13.5 v. at full charge. Some make may give 12.5 - 13v. After the first start, that's when the question of whether the old battery can hold its charge or can be recharged in normal driving condition by the alternator or not. I got stranded once with the same conditions you described after the first start. It looks like you need a new battery. Braille makes great products. The lithium option will require some mod's, fitment, and tender charging. USA and German made AGM batteries are also good, less expensive and require no modifications. Avoid Chinese or Mexican made brands - not all bad but depends on luck - who needs that when you are talking about a voltage sensitive beast like the 458.

    IMHO:

    2011 car = 5-6 years old = probably needs a replacement battery.

My mechanic likes the Optima AGM batteries, but he will actually go to the store and search for one he likes the best, like looking for produce at the supermarket? I think he's searching for the most recent one shipped to the store.

Anyway, new battery (even OEM if you want to keep it all Ferrari) plus a CTek 7002 tender, in my experience = 5-7 years more of no problems. As a matter of course, I try to replace batteries in my cars every 5 years. Its just a precaution. But I don't have experience with the Lithium as 458trofeo does above. That looks like a very interesting option which I shall investigate...

Replacing battery later today. Hopefully the car returns to normal at that point.

But 10 times the price of a "normal" AGM version ... :)

Well that didn't fix it. Replaced battery errors still there. Either I got something bigger going on or they need to clear the errors. Calling dealer.

Graphic, what error codes is she throwing? Is it just the electrical failure code?

Fwiw I had the feeling it was not a battery related issue when you mentioned that
the steering and light positioning systems were affected..

I would def. take it to dealer at this point, probably a bad sensor or other electrical
issue related to the steering or light positioning; keep us posted.

    Very best

Electrical System Failure is the warning, Comes on soon as you turn key. Also the headlight icon (right side of the tach) blinks and never stops.

The battery was weak though so no problem there it needed to be replaced. They pick car up Monday. We will see how it shakes out.
