Had the car been started in the last 6 years? How old was the gas? I'd be worried the engine internals would have dried out (cams, liners, rod bearings, etc).
Just came back from a great day in Door County, WI. 175 miles today. On today's trip I eclipsed 3,000 miles for the summer for the fifth straight year. I have never been left stranded in any of my fun cars. There is nothing better than a fully sorted 355. Spider, GTS or Berlinetta. Pictures? I was having waaaay too much fun and forgot
Oh yes, I just meant that after over 6 years of ownership I finally decided it was time do do 'the' drive. It went beautifully without incident.
50 track miles no problem. I guess one problem changed brake fluid and brake master cylinder need to be bled but the first two sessions drove with poorer brakes but this forces you to be smother when you only can brake once per corner, and no abs
That's awesome I plan to drive mine around that 3000 mile mark each year. It would be more if I didn't have to put her to sleep in the Winter.
I've driven my car from coast to coast. In the 4 years I've owned it and 10k miles I've put on it, the only problems I've had are motor mounts and throw out bearing. Both (relatively) cheap and easy to fix. It's the most reliable car I currently own.
73 degrees here today..... So I took the car with me to work and broke out at 3. Just got home from an 1.5 hour ride flogging the car. Ran like a top. Perfect, smooth and fast F1 shifts. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would like to personally thank all those who have posted. Please keep posting so that others will see all the posts of cars being driven with no incidents. It is nice to see a thread where they are getting used allmost daily with no incidents. Maybe a year from now i hope there will be lots of pages within this thread proving how reliable we all know these cars are
last drive today here in Montreal, great day, before first 10cm snow forecasted. went for a nice bomb around, pretty aggressive, during a little errand. can't believe will have to wait ~5months. 5500miles this season alone, no issues whatsoever. and recent since Sept, de-cated 5.2, with spacers + steel wool almost 1000miles, not a single CEL!
I don't see the need for a defensive attitude towards F cars, I've come to realize they are the most reliable exotics built today, (post 2010) of course,,
I used to drive mine about 100-200 miles every weekend, lately I've been a bit busier with work so haven't had the time. I would literally fill up Friday night and by Sunday be close to empty again. I would have no particular destination, would just take the roads I knew wouldn't have much traffic in LA and enjoy it
Had the car 2 weeks. Drove it: Day one: 1 mile Day two: 2 miles Day three: 12 miles Day ten: 5 miles Day thirteen: 86 miles* *drove to work in rush hour traffic on side roads which was slower for some reason. Includes driving to work, then at lunch to Taco Bell, then to the BMW store (friends work there), then to my painter in another city (highway), then back to work and later, back home. I am now at a half of a tank of gas (from a full tank when received)
Drove again today less 50 miles to tennis and back. Had an issue the bypass stayed open. Got home and checked vacume line and at last major it was not secured good enough and touched exhaust and eventually burned through. Replaced line and good as new so kinda an issue but more my issue than the cars fault.
Since last post drove over 50 times had fuse go out on fan under passenger footwell. Not sure why replace fuse all good. I think it was original fuse.
