I have had my say, he has not answered one of my questions. Classic armchair expert for all to see now. I would not have actually spoken out unless he firstly tried to belittle me. I am in talks with two UK based ECU specialists who already offer 575/612 Bosch ecu upgrades, and have recently found two more in europe, but as I don't have a working engine to test the changes on it is pointless to have them make a start yet, once I do they will be carrying out the modifications and I will update my build thread at that time and list the supplier for all to use. As observers can see from that build thread I walk the walk not simply talk the talk. I will be commenting no more here as this thread is about F1 to manual 599 conversions not who can piss the highest up a wall. However I will say you don't need to get your hands dirty to offer advice, wherever it may have been gleaned from, just list the source when you do, so that it can be verified, the net is notorious for turning fiction into fact via a series of chinese whispers so always seek the source before acting on such information. Coming into this section as a novice on the modern Ferrari v12 I asked questions, sat back listened to the advice and then researched it, that was when I started to have serious doubts about what was being claimed as first hand facts here.
Paul- Bye. Suggest you actually have a converted Motronic ECU in hand before mouthing off again about a "simple upgrade reflash" when you have no idea whether it can be done. You came off looking pretty bad in this exchange.
Keep digging that hole for all to see buddy. Still not answered any of my questions about any real first hand experience you actually have on these v12 engines or any projects you have on the go. Please prove me wrong that you are not simply a plagiarist who claims the knowledge of others as your own. Shall I go on every thread you ever comment on, asking you where the information you list had actually come from? as you never acknowledge or provide the source.
Chill down Paul. Terry has great knowledge he never hesitates to share. He's a great member of the forum and really doesn't desserve that harsh comment. I suggest to stop the argument here. That doesn't make sense anymore.
Using the classic playground chant "He started it" and he has chosen to continue it. I am very calm trust me, he has no direct knowledge, instead he claims that of others as his own time and time again. Ever so easy for him to prove me wrong, I look forward to it. In support of my own background, which he chose to try and call me out on further up the thread, we (myself and my father) have a 575 engine here in front of us, which we have stripped down to component form. We have all the components needed to uprate it to 612 spec. We have a pair of engine wiring looms and all sensors, We have a pair of 612 engine ecu to F1 spec. We have an ongoing build thread which has been running for a number of years, the 575 engine will be going into that project, mated to a 6 speed manual Ferrari gearbox and it will be managed by those two F1 Bosch engine ecu modified by people who know what they are doing to run in manual mode. Edited to ad I would like to thank those people who have contacted me by PM who have carried out exactly what I said with regards changing the Ferrari software in these Bosch engine ecu, both when working for Ferrari and as independents. I will respect their preference to remain out of the public spotlight on the matter.
Terry some of us always value your input. Please feel free to post anytime IMHO. This is the peril of the internets. Everyone is an expert.
A suggestion: let's let this thread die and when the car is completed, they can show a video showing everything that was done. Kind of like a build thread and then the final product. That way, we're able to see the final product and not the bantering back and forth. I agree on Taz and am also rooting for the manual fix. Oh snap! I added another reply to keep this thread going...
Curt- Thanks. When Paul first started posting on the 456-575M forum, I said to my self,uh-oh, a big mouth know it all. So after 8 1/2 years of driving, learning about, and documenting the 575M, alarm system, wheels, F133 engine family, etc, I pretty much ignored him. A wise decision. I actually hope he gets his engine running, although I have little faith in his ability to do so.
You are really showing your true colours now, that holes getting bigger by the day. Still no evidence of actually ever doing anything to a v12 Ferrari engine yourself. We are all waiting patiently Mr self proclaimed expert.
take it easy you're dealing with a Texas (permit to carry guy) I love his V12 and don't need pics cause I like Texans,,
What attitude? the guy tried to unilaterally call me out when he can not even back up any of his claims, whilst I have. Name calling is the lowest form of wit by the way. If a mod happens to read this, it would make sense for all posts from that one of his be wiped up to and including this one, they add nothing to the debate this thread was started for. Before that though Rifledriver, as you have extensive knowledge of these cars would you like to comment on the ability to re write the ecu of a 575 as my understanding from properly informed sources on here is that anyone with the correct diagnostic tool can update the data even into a virgin ecu, something that our resident expert says cannot be done, even though he has clearly never even held one in his hand never mind worked on it.
