I might be moving on to the dark side: V8 F1. So thinking of selling the 550...so how do folks handle the process if seling direct, specifically do you permit test drives or just have buyer rely on PPI results?

Market is soft right now in my opinion so you'd probably be better off trading it in if you want the instant gratification.

Wow. Such a Nice example! Don't know correct pricing but wish I could take advantage of said soft market in general. A well sorted and Maintained 550 like this one should command a premium and not be subject to the full impact of a soft market.

That said the seller determines the impact of market forces by the need or desire to sell quickly or slowly.

Are you sure you want to sell?

I personally think it's worth $150+ and at the right auction it would likely fetch that right now. Prices seem to have peaked earlier in the year though in my opinion.

Very nice example. :) Don't give it away.

    That's a very nice 550.

Would love to see several pictures of the interior.

Is that exterior color Grigio Titanio?

Even in a soft market, your car should sell on the high end of it, IMHO.

i think i'm with most here in thinking i'd hold a gated 550 in a soft market, if the move was to a V8 F1. what specific model are you after? i don't remember seeing any specifics on that end. in a soft market, you obviously want to move up. sell low soft, but buy high soft - at least from a financial standpoint. if a loss doesn't bother you at all, do as you please. i think the whole 550/575 market is a good one to stay in, though. it does seem like your 550 will warrant some level of a premium, so you do have that going for you - along with total consciousness on your deathbed.

    Terry,

Mine is rosso/tan. It is stunning but too in your face. I wish I had titanio like yours. You can use it like a daily driver and blend better in a crowd. Don't sell it just buy the F1 car too. Then decide if you are really tired of one of them. It will be very hard to another 550 like yours. Look around you will be hard pressed to find your car available out there. I think market is soft because there is so much junk out there. People think a cheap ferrari can be turned into a good ferrari but they really don't know how much that really costs.

I got my 550 about a year ago. . Wouldn't give it up in slower market
if your looking for an opinion. Next year could bring more confidence in
the car market. Its a well optioned 550. drive it have fun.

cash out while you can if you had it awhile. I have several 911's I bought very well a few years ago that I am currently selling. I have a fairly large collection (20 cars) that is a lot of work to keep up with and costly with tag and insurance. You can only drive one at a time. I might even sell my 348 for a newer Ferrari sometime next year. It's a buyers market right now and the best place to sell is on these forums. Give other members first crack!!

Agree with FatBillyBob keep the 550 and buy the F1 if you can. I own both types and always go back to the 550 as preference. So I think if you let a car of that caliber go you will regret it long term ;-)

That car might be worth more than you think to the collectors as everything is right and it has a minimal milage. Wait one year and you might see 200.000 USD for it! It will be extremely trendy to park a car like that With manual at Wall Street................. I bet.

Which F1 V8 are you considering?

I'm here to tell you... doesn't matter. Keep your Maranello! Or at least don't "swap" it for an F1 V8.

Depending on the F1 gen you're considering, you may be better off than me, but I've had nothing but trouble out of my F1 F-cars! The failed F1 pumps. Failed F1 sensors. Failed F1 hydraulic lines. I can name more.

I got rid of my Maranello in '14 and regretted it immediately!

I'm actually buying it back right now... for more than I originally paid (and sold it for)... I regretted it THAT MUCH!!

The gated 550 is SUCH a reliable F-car by comparison.

I would hold off until spring if I were you. The market is soft now and prices for your 550 are most likely to go up whereas the F1 V8 or F12 will only go down, at least temporarily.
