"We won't win again?" What's with this "we" mentality that pervades the fandom? The team does't belong to you, you don't get a salary from them, they don't know that you exist, the drivers don't know you. Get over it. It's cringe-inducing.

And this comment shows why you, and others, may not quite fit into a forum populated by true tifosi. We are dedicated to ferrari, the team, the cars, and if you don't think fans of any sports team don't see themselves as part of it, then you don't understand human nature at all

With all due respect to both of you, obviously Marchionne, who happens to be the BOSS failed.

He's the one who should be skipping the lunch, not the staff under HIS direction.

    Straightforward.

    Best,
    Sammy

Broke up awesome team in favor of local talent. Rinsed out best driver in history of F1 in favor of someone else.

Annual "Gonna Quit F1" tantrums in public.

Ferrari needs to start its own championship much like Don Panoz did. This hybrid engine nonsense is very girly. My lawnmower sounds better.

Ferrari is my team but F1 is my sport. If Ferrari is not smart enough to get their ducks in a row then so be it. Currently they have not done so.

As I've said, the decision is too drastic, so wrong.

But as I've also said, if the team's morale depends on a lunch, or even on what the president thinks about them, then there's something wrong with the team.

A team is a sum of a lot of people, not only a leader. I sometimes have been downplayed by my bosses and I didn't give a FXX-K: I knew when I was right and when they were wrong and kept working.

The teams moral doesn't depend on xmas lunch, but it does depend on the feeling pervaded by ferrari that it is a family company, that they care about their workers and their families (green spaces at work, family days, shutdowns, social events etc). Taking away a staple of the year that's been thee since the old man was around, win or lose, shows marchionne has contempt for the marque, and for the passion of the factory. He won't make people work harder for him being a tool over dinner, he'd be better having a traditional dressing down en masse like in the old days, and then putting his energy into demanding F1 allows more testing so the team can at least try to develop the cars and make a show of it next year. Blaming the team for being hamstrung by the limitations of the rules is sick

Bad idea. Nobody watches Ferrari Challenge races. I rather see Ferrari loose against real competition than a fake series

Nothing says sore loser more like ''I can't win so setting up my own series with only Ferrari's, so I'll always win even when I lose!''

"The decision was made because “there is nothing to celebrate”, Turrini wrote on his Quotidiano blog."

    Wow!
I though it was Christmas the were celebrating.

Seems like a stupid move, but I don't know what the actual culture is like at Ferrari.

Someone's wife died and it greatly impacted the team. If there are other problems I would address them, not assault the family aspect of F1. A lot of these guys have no work life balance already and now you are going to crap on them some more?

So, the new line at Ferrari is that everything is "performance related", even Christmas celebrations.

If that's what it takes I'm all for it. We'll see next year I guess but if that's another disappointment, how it's likely to be, after three years at the helm, Marchionne should have a really deep look at himself. If they prove competitive though, I'm not saying winning but at least being within a chance until the last race, I'll be the first to call Marchionne a genius.

Btw my suspicion is that this move has all to do with money Marchionne doesn't want to spend on the party.

That reminds me of my Gran sending me straight to bed without supper when I had been a naughty little boy.
