Ian whilst I sincerely wish the best for your father, I think your love for him hasn't allowed you to see the irony in your post... At what point can a 'safety net' system (which is what the public health system SHOULD be seen as (Rolls Royce treatment is not a right, nor anywhere near covered by tax inputs in most cases) sustain prolonging life with medicine - it is, and probably always has to be a privilege for those who can afford it. I'm glad your Dad has you! Wishing him all,the best.
Who would do it? Thankless job today where everthing you do and have ever done in your life is under a microscope. Can't get anything wrong and have to please all of the people all of the time... gotta keep that ****ter feed positive! All the best for your father!!
My dad went in '92 Wes, mum in 2013, never let them pay once I started working, except for when it was a tax deduction for dad when taking his clients and family out
How the F can you get killed by a lawnmower!!!! ? I can see a foot being chopped off or something, but killed ... WTF! Pete
I guess most of us are worried about other things: CDC 2015 Stats Heart disease: 614,348 Cancer: 591,699 Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 147,101 Accidents (unintentional injuries): 136,053 Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 133,103 Alzheimer's disease: 93,541 Diabetes: 76,488 Influenza and pneumonia: 55,227 Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 48,146 Intentional self-harm (suicide): 42,773 During that same year the FBI recorded 8,124 murders by firearms in the United States, a statistic that would indeed rank below all other entries on this list.
Smoking, obesity, poor diet, lack of exercise. It's the same over here. See if you guys can get plain packaging past the tobacco lobby - immediate results with uptake of smoking in young people.
I agree it's time for gun control in Washington............ our Republic can function just fine without armed politicians.
I advocate roll bars and branch deflectors on all ride-on's and seat belts all connected to the ignition system, like the hand brake seat sensor and steering leavers, mines a Zero turn. Dont laugh I am seriously thinking making roll bars and branch deflectors for mine.
A friend told me a few nights ago that when she visited Chicago a few months ago, there were 8 murders and 24 gun shot injuries over night. She was there visiting her Sister who lives there, her sister is friends with a Cop who was working that night that it all happened. 8 murders and 24 gun shot injuries in one night is normal the Cop said. I don't know if that was in an 8, 10 or 12 hr shift. Crazy either way.
Yeah and when she needs them, will she be able to deal with the panic and get them out at all? ... probably not. Utter waste of time for 95% of the population to carry. Sure if you are a trained Navy Seal or something and always on guard, then yeah you might stand a chance, but somebody like me (ie. a normal person) would likely freeze and game over. Pete
Yep, for all the talk about "arming the good guys" when was the last time any carrying good guy saved the day?
