Marchionne is one of the very worst people to be leading a company like Ferrari. Until him, the company was always lead by someone with passion, rather than a bean counter. Winning the F1 WC every year is an awfully nice pipe dream, and if someone at the helm is going to approach it with the expectation of doing so, you are ridiculously delusional. The goal is to always win, of course, but reality is what it is. And if you think the way to remedy this is by throwing your weight around, and firing people left and right, you are far from being the right person for the job. I can only imagine what morale is like within the team right now. I know they beat themselves up when they aren't winning, and then you just add a guy like Marchionne breathing down everyone's neck - it cannot feel like a family right now. You cannot bully your way to success. This, in my opinion, is a very dark period for Ferrari. Marchionne has no business running a company that has achieved its success through passion. You get a power hungry bean counter who thinks he's qualified to do anything he likes may very well destroy Ferrari forever. He's certainly not helping the F1 team at all.
I disagree. We, the fans are stakeholders. They earn from us...by we buying their products, merchandise, attending races, paying the tickets, watching races on tv...it contributes to Ferrari. So yes, if you consider yourself a real fan of a team, it's 'we'.
I agree with this, it seems Ferrari is largely back to where it was in the period after Enzo's passing and before Luca's arrival.
Cancelling xmas functions in a company like Ferrari is the beginning of the end, seen it too many times with lots of companies I've worked at ...... WANG, DEC, Compaq, etc, use to celebrate big time, then stopped due to accountants stepping in, morale dropped, we tried just as hard but the writing was on the wall ..... you're just a number Ferrari is passion ........... why else would so many people pay such ridiculous prices for their cars ??!!

Just a random idea. Perhaps the drivers should step up and ensure that this little tradition continues. Affordability would not be much of an issue for them, and it would certainly bring all the F1 team members focus back to the passion of the group and demonstrate the appreciation to all involved. The full consequences of Uncle Sweaters terrible decisions he's making so that his failure is planely appearant. It's not the drivers responsibility to make up for Uncle Sweaters incompetence.
While I agree that the will and drive to win should be the no one ingredient for every Ferrari employee - not the Christmas lunch - this is a tradition the employees and their families look forward to. Don't kick the team when they are down. I am sure they are hurting enough as their pride has suffered these past three years. Canceling the lunch is like telling them their hard work and sacrifices over the year means nothing. Very wrong message to send and a sure-fire way to a worse morale in 2017.
I had thought the same but it could be read as a sign of rebellion. Remember that Vettel was already told to mind his own business.
I'm sure that's been the thought of both drivers already. I'm sure that if they do it, they'll do it quietly so that uncle sweater doesn't find out. This is a message he has send to everyone. Don't bite the hand that feeds you etc. Kimi and Vettel are both very well liked by the team and the other way round. I'm sure we'll find out in a few years how either or both handled it...and I think they've quietly organized a dinner out of their own pocket.
