48 - one kid in college (ouch) another will be next year (double ouch).

Started out as a firm believer in the Yukon Denali XL as the kids grew up (snowboarding, surfing, camping and rock climbing vehicle) and slowly worked into BMW ownership (still have 3) but now it's time for some fun!

I was 30 when I got my 355. I worked a lot of overtime that year, so I put all of the overtime money into a Ferrari fund, and paid cash for the car. I still have it. just picked up a mid-year 911 last month. (my 9th Porsche). All cars were paid by working hard.

Very fortunate to have my first ferrari at the age of 22 (I'm still 22). I've had my f430 spider for 3 weeks and I've already done over 2200 miles in it. At this rate I'll be doing 30-40 thousand miles a year. It is my only car at the moment and I love every second of it.

There's plenty of time. Look at this way, you can only have one 1st Ferrari and it is usually the best. My first at 40 was a Mondial, then an F355 and now 360. That time with the Mondial was probably the best.
You still have all that to look forward to ;)

Bought my first Ferrari in '94 when I was 20. A red 308 GTS. 75% own money and a proud and relieved father chipped in with the rest when he learned I'd signed up for med school. Back in my late teens when I started working alongside my studies, I made my first investments as I was determined to get my first Ferrari before I turned 25. When I told him about the university enrollment, he asked me how the savings for my "project" as it was known at the time, was coming along, and the rest is history as they say.

Didn't get mine until I was 44 (4 years ago). I had a Jag E-Type and a few 240Zs prior to it, even though Ferrari was all I ever wanted since I'm a child.

Patience is a virtue. It's a bit like finding a spouse, when you meet the right one, it will happen!

    50. Bought my 308 seven years ago (non-running at that!) with my own cash. Got my first ticket in my best friends 308 GTB in 1982 and had to wait 27 years to get my own.

    42. Bought it a few weeks ago from a fantastic F-chat'er. It's a project car so I can teach my boys how to work with their hands and turn a wrench, but it's in fantastic shape. I actually heard the engine sputter a bit last night, but my wife has threatened me if I really do anything to the car before we show the kids on Christmas morning. (I still mess with it almost every day tho, if only to sit in it- what she doesn't know won't hurt her, right?)

Wow that's really cool, you're going to surprise them on Christmas morning with the project? Or do they know about it but just can't start working until Christmas? And how old are your kids?

I got my 355 last year when I was 27.

They don't know about it. I have it hiding in my detached workshop, and they know they can't go into the shop around Christmas (same story every year). We are going to surprise them Christmas morning. The boys are 11, 8, and 6. The two older boys are really getting into cars like their dad. We've talked about getting a car to restore for a while now, but the Ferrari will be a huge surprise. Now I can't wait for Christmas morning either. I feel like a 10 year old again.

    Bought a 87' 328 in 97' with 12 K miles on it, think I paid $48,000 cash for it.
I was 43 at the time, few months after a long butt ugly divorce .......sold the house and bought a Ferrari. Wish I still had that baby, had sellers remorse for 13 years til I got the 355.

My 11 yo knows that I'm hiding something in the shop, but he thinks I'm hiding a big Christmas present for a friend that didn't have room to hide it himself. He doesn't know it's a car (I don't think). The cars we've always talked about restoring were American muscle, but I've wanted a Ferrari since I was a kid. When I did my research and realized that a 308 was actually a reasonable car to work on myself, I was all in. I honestly think my 11 yo may crap himself when he sees it.

I was 57 when I bought my 550, four years ago. A Ferrari has always been on my wish list - it just took me a while to get around to it. More by good luck than good management, I bought it at the right time and it has tripled in value, so earlier this year I bought my Dino (a Dino was the first Ferrari I ever drove, around 40 years ago, so it has always been in the back of my mind that one day I would have to have one), on the pretext of it being a better investment than my pension fund - based on the price performance of the 550, she couldn't argue!!!
