Are 50k TR's in our near future??

Since when is theft an automatic salvage? I have seen many theft recoveries returned to the owner. Deer or not I suspect an estimate of 40% of many cars value is a total no matter the reason. Some cars have a high enough salvage value it pencils out to be a smart position to take.
A salvage title does not automatically make it a "Parts car" but absent any other information its not a bad call. Insurance companies have a very big data base of experience of costs associated with the repairs of cars and while they do make conservative calls in some cases they do not write cars off, on average without very good reason.

 

Resale value is only one consideration. It also substantially reduces your pool of buyers and of those that are left, they want to steal it.

Overall the ad describes a neglected car that received no care and like an old horse it got to the point it was no longer of use and the owner couldn't bring himself to shoot it.

 

As much as I see your point Claude , my issue is I'm a pessimist.

The small chance that I could get into a serious accident with a salvaged title car scares me enough that I could not jepordize my life, or the life of my family.

Everyone selling the salvage car will never admit or disclose how bad the damage is, or what effect the new fix can have in a major collision. The fact remains, the car repaired can never be the same as it was from the factory - unless you actually see yourself that the frame and body was never compromised.

Therefore, I would rather pay the 10k -20k more for a non salvage car , than a potential funeral. I know I'm going extreme, but I've seen cars on the highway traveling under 100km/hr in the snow and go airborne into the ditch rolled in the winter on the 401.

Not something something I would want to be in if it happened in a salvaged car, no matter how minor.

lol possible but just saying you cant paint them all with the same brush. I have no problem buying such a car (other than the one you posted a pic of ) which would be bought below market value and I would enjoy driving the car rather than worry about resale / preservation and saving it for the next person.

So much for the pull back to $75k for entry level to $120k - $150k for the best of the best Testarossa's that some here would like them to be. I have personally been charting sales for the past year and have seen values sell routinely from $150k to $320k for the best of the best. These are all documented sales from various auction houses.

IAG also had a 39k mile car about a month ago asking $77k with recent service done. Looks like they are one of the few that actually want to sell cars.

 

There is a 17k mile one there also for $93k I believe. I think 100k is a good price for a TR. they went crazy for a bit.

 

They are already classics. Surprised people aren't jumping all over these <$100K examples.

I remember maybe a year ago higher prices. What gives???

These prices are too low -- think about how many millionaires are there now? China? India? Russia? How many want nice cars?

These are classic and everyone knows them. So few cars but so many dollars means prices have to go up. Or am i crazy? I think once prices stop going down they must go up!
