Not sure where to put this. What an interesting story. Top Stories: The 'king' of Badger Island http://ab.co/2fllMP7
I watched it on Landline,great,..pity he's virtually the end of the line though. It belonged in TV/Video BTW.
That is a very eloquent bit of writing! My father is a geologist so understanding these time frames has always been part of my life. On that note Ian Plimer is a long time family friend so I have been encouraged to think for myself and check facts before accepting the popular press at face value. To me the whole AGW/greenhouse gas issue is just a wonderful gift to politicians. Since it has become fashionable it is a subject that they can campaign on and promise the world (with other peoples money of course) and the most wonderful thing from a politicians perspective is that they cannot be proven wrong!!! The time frames from action to response (if any) are way beyond any political term. It is such a gift... pisses me off massively I'm not sure why you think that... the amount of radiation that leaves earth is approximately the same amount that lands on it... which is a LOT. You don't have to be a scientist to validate this as a fact either... if the amount of energy (radiation) striking earth was more than that leaving the earth would heat up continuously. Given that the temperature is relatively stable the energy in must equal the energy out. The greenhouse effect is what keeps that stable temperature higher on earth than on a similar but airless planet (the moon is a good example).
Well said I rather liked Ian Plimers Books it opened my eyes to just how many things influence our climate. Schools need to use the book as a reference, however his book How to Get Expelled from School : A Guide to Climate Changes for Pupils, Parents and Punters should suffice as a must read for students.
