That looks like its based on one of those 600cc retro cars that were produced in the 90s using the chassis of a Micra from memory

I am going to be using this extruded aluminum and fabricate brackets that will give the rockers a more squared off look,I have a set of the jack hole covers that I will be putting in the rocker moldings too ......I am going to be changing the side vents also

This car does look tiny, I saw info on this car but the website is gone, the Modena actually is the size of a LWB Spyder should look about like this car when I am finished

Hi, I just recieved a set of new custom made side vents, they are deeper and shaped differently and much closer to the original spyders, shouldn't be to much glass work to them to fit nicely

Nice works of art! So are you keeping the existing plexiglass headlight covers or going with the more bubble shaped covers?

I wish I could make the more bubbled ones work ,but it would be to much work, it would have been nice to raise the taillights up a couple more inches too and make the bottom of the decklid flush with the rear body panel, we are fitting the side vents you can see the different shape,I have the headlight tubes almost ready to glass in...also been fitting the rocker panel moldings....

Thank you Pcelenta for suggesting these fiberglass bumpers from dnaautomotive they really will work well and are really sturdy 1/4-3/8" thick,we had to take a few inches out of the center and fit them to the car ,but they will look great, Paul's chrome can chrome them using the same process as metal bumpers

I'm glad they worked out. I was certainly intrigued by their car. Many details like those bumpers and bumper guards look great and I think they got the shape of the nose and headlights dead on. But the whole packages proportions are screwy I suppose because they are trying to get it to fit the Z3. In my head I am thinking of scratch building my own body and perhaps mating it to a cobra replica chassis modified slightly to the correct SWB. I am a ways off on this (just accumulating parts along the way) as I am deep into the restoration of a pretty rare Porsche and eventually I would like to do a mild cosmetic restoration of my 308. Look forward to seeing the progress on your car. Regards Paul

Hi, as a previous owner of a Modena (#36 I believe) I'm enjoying the progress on the fairly extensive modifications of your Modena. I saw where there were several comments on your wheels so I'm attaching some pictures of mine just for comparison. I'm sorry that I can't offer much information on the wheels as they came with the car and I was satisfied with them. Keep up the good work and photos. It appears I'm having trouble attaching pictures so there many be additional posts. Gary

    Hi gsbarr
Thanks for sharing the pics of your car, looks just like mine before I starting doing the modifications,I have the same wheels, they are Dayton 15x7" aluminum rims, super rare wheels , I have the problem posting more than one picture also.....instead of using the Austin healey 100 to I decide to use an Alfa guilietta 750 soft top assembly, I have to widen it a bit, but it works like the original cars,I was hoping to be able to trim each side of an original 25O windshield but it looks like I will have make a lexan windshield

I was fortunate to find a fiberglass dash somebody had made using an original as a mold ,we will have to make it deeper to meet the windshield ,such a huge difference it will make, now you will really be able to see the veglia gauges,

    Hi Gary
Did you enjoy your Modena ?how long did you own it? I have found this car to be made well, do you recall what brand and size tires you had on your car, I decided to go with 1960-64 Alfa spider seats they are really close to the same size and shape as the 250 seats and the foam is available ..the welded tube Ferrari frames are exspensive and costly to upholster ...the knock off early lwb dash will really give the car a vintage look

I did enjoy the car very much, especially taking it to Ferrari functions. It was very well accepted by most, including the dealership. I was always upfront with what it was, whether at a function or receiving inquiries at the gas station. I found that most people couldn't care less whether it was the real thing or not, they just appreciated the styling. And I appreciated their appreciation. I have to say, out of all my cars, it garnered the most attention. Another plus was I was not afraid to drive it and my local mechanic could work on it. Would I rather have had the real thing, sure. I had it for about four years and, I'm sorry I don't remember the size and brand of tires. Have fun with your project.

Jesus Christ! You look like a skilled guy, but stop wasting time modifying it. It is good enough as it is. Drive it and enjoy it. Every second you spend on it is a second you don't spend in it.

    Hi Luxb1
I feel you on that, it started as removing the vent Windows and changing out the mgb taillights and a few modifications in the interior to a full modifications from the front bumper to the rear, as long as I have it finished by mid summer for my Lake Tahoe runs I'll be good, we are turning the corner, doing some trans tunnel mods, putting in the proper spare tire storage , should be painted in 6 weeks ,another4- 6 weeks in the upholstery shop, the drive train is perfect so it should be on the road soon...making a mold for a windshield ...
    Regards
    Matt

Yes the Ferrari windshield was too wide and we were hoping to take a little off the sides but then the curve wouldn't be right, if we could took a few inches out of the middle of the windshield it would of been perfect lol,so we made a plastic one .

    Mattie,

I followed you over here from the mad mechanics site. Great to see the progress you are making on this car. Is the screen acrylic or polycarb and did you source some with any special kind of scratch resistant coating? I've been looking for a solution like this for my build.
