I wonder why the infatuation with the 6 carbs on the two cam.
They weren't homologated to race that way, correct?

And the factory never had a 4 cam comp car.

The 275 seems like a street car.

There was a question over the minimum weight of the 1965 comp cars not comparing with the brochure of the street 275GTB though I think the 1965 275 GTBs did eventually get homologated and with 6 carbs? However due to the problems encountered the papers had to be refiled for 1966 and Ferrari failed to submit that the 275 GTB had a 6 carb option. Therefore for 1966 the 275 GTB was homologated with 3 carbs only hence the very special 275 GTB/C only having 3 carbs, but they are Weber 40 DF13 which are unique to the 275 GTB/C. Again, Dyke Ridgley is an expert on this matter.

It is, as is the Daytona. The 250 LM was the last road car that was actually designed as a race car.

6 carb inflatuation is surely because it's cool.

The 275 GTB Competizione Speciales such as 06885 and the 1966 275 GTB/Cs were very different to the road cars and surely designed as race cars?

I had a 275 GTB/4 that motion products restored but I never really loved the car. My preference has evolved to earlier cars.

I don't agree Steve. Unless the first iteration of a car was designed for the race track we are talking about race modifications to a road car and all the compromises that entails. In the 275 GTB/Cs case those modifications were considerable but it started with somebody saying let's go racing with our latest road car.

Luckily with Ferraris, in most cases their cars are already better suited to racing ... but in the 275GTBs case the fact that their race car required massive changes shows that they (the GTBs) were designed for spirited road driving and nothing more, ie. the 512TR of their day.

One of my favourite Ferraris the 275GTB but I have a love hate issue with the looks, particularly the rear wheel arch ...

I respect your opinion, Pete but do you know that these cars were built from the ground up as serious racing cars by Forghieri in Ferrari's Racing Department? They are very different to the road cars and have dry sump tipo 213 Comp specification engines similar to a 250 LM. People assume wrongly that because these cars look (purposely for homologation) like a road going long nose 275 GTB that they are similar. All the panels, which are very lightweight alloy, are different and they are extremely special underneath.

Thank you Marcel, I was going to check the Classiche book before proceeding, but you saved me some time! That is the color it will be returned to, thank you.

Thank you. Ok so here is a question for everyone. 10949 was dark blue as Marcel kindly stated and the interior was black.

The blue will be great I'm sure, but if I had been speccing the car from new, I probably wouldn't have picked black with dark blue. Should I keep the interior black or, put the original interior in a box and maybe redo the interior in a dark tan, or brown?

Keep the original interior in storage and do Tan or Brown. That would look wonderful!

Since you are going for the original look on the outside, I think you should leave the interior according to original spec.

Hard to say, blue with brown or beige looks beautiful, but original is original, and having the car in the original colors as it came out from the factory has its different taste.

But again, hard to decide. In the moment that you decide on going black, you will see a blue one with brown interior and you won´t be sure what to do, and if you decide going on brown, you will think about originality and it will be hard.

Anyway, i bring you nothing with this, but if it was me, i would go with the original one. A great great Ferrari in it´s original colors it´s something different.

    Best,

    Nico.

Slightly different view, go original if you like it, and chose the color you like, so long it is a period color and would have been available in period, if you prefer another one . At the end it is your car, and you want to enjoy it the way you like. Look at Ralph Lauren cars, or very often Pebble Beach winners they are often different from the original cars.

Dark blue with tobacco leather is my favorite color combination for GTB/4.
