Yesterday driving home, there is a kilometre long uphill section as there are on many Freeways
This has a 3 lane section at least the trucks use the left left two lanes, however it's like there is a big sign that says "just for trucks" FFSP no it's not.
Cars hogging the right lane and slowing down because it's a hill and not a truck in sight.

This quite a tretuious section of road as at the very top it goes to two then immediately three for an on ramp and then an exit just just after that. So it's dodgem city with slow trucks merging traffic and exiting just a SF.

I am starting to think the road markings are wrong on the slow lanes, change the two lanes entering it to direct people to the left and make the right a passing, this would at least be consistent with two lane roads. This may stop the left lane being the passing lane. And get the right lane hoggers into the centre.

Exactly. One of my students is from Korea and she had to do precisely NOTHING before being allowed to drive here. No P plates, no road rules test or anything.
They don't even drive on the same side of the road FFS!

How she has managed to not kill herself and several other people I'll never know...

The problem is that too many people also hog the centre lane. On the F2 north of Sydney, the inside lane with undertaking is often the only way to make progress. I often look at drivers in the centre lane as I go past, they are oblivious to other traffic. Why sit in the middle with an empty inside lane next to you? The only answer I can come up with is that they are too lazy to change lanes in case they come upon a truck.

The other interesting behaviour is when cars synchronise speed, always the centre and outside lane, travelling at exactly 5kmh under the limit, regardless of the queue behind.

and you can go to Korea, rent a car and go for your life with no idea of their road rules and regardless of any experience driving on the right :)

Correct. That's the other side of the equation. I've driven throughout Europe and how I've not managed to kill myself and several others I'll never know...

Like you I have spent time driving in Europe and not just survived but enjoyed the experience.
The behaviour here should be no different according to the road rules but it's not.

Oddly the rules for three lane city traffic are different to three lane motor/freeways.
City, the centre lane is correct lane to allow car to enter and exit.

The motor/free way sign should read left lane/s at all times only unless overtaking.

All this is the reason we will never, NT excluded, have 130k speed limits.

The reason we won't get a 130kmh limit is because 99% of drivers wouldn't feel the need to exceed it, hence a catastrophic drop in speed camera revenue.

Most people have grown up with 100Ks and cannot cope with with the different judgment needed for 130 or 160.
NSW doesn't need the revenue any way

I agree Qlders are disastrous for merging etc but surely the most infuriating drivers are Vic where no one will use the slow turnouts and pull out to overtake then realize they're on the speed limit so just sit in lockstep in the overtaking lane.

That's what happens when you only have one trick in your book ....... speed !!!

Don't look at bad driving, just sit on your fat arse letting the machine do your job and claim you're helping keep the kill rate down

What always amazes me when I'm driving in Brisbane is the incessant tailgating as well the running of red lights. You're all bogans :p

Yeah, they've all got 355CH brakes so they can get away with that

I really like the aggressive young girls zipping in and out of traffic while putting their lippy on

Saw a funny one the other week going up past Boganholme, some guy fell asleep in front of me and drive off to the right into a concrete barrier !!!

    That woke him up :p

I don't have any experience with these things, but I imagine they would suck the fuel up.
