The only choice I want is how you wish to be killed after we win the vote and get permission to kill off your whole bloodline. Rob mentioned hanging, but if you have another preference, I'm all ears.

you realize we have to do a trend analysis? ;) will need one more poll, if trends down or flat, then we revert back. if it keeps improving we keep trying. :D

when I changed software in 2003 from DW to VB 99% hated it day 1, 50% day 2, 25% day 7, and 1% day 30. I don't expect this one to trend that extreme, but there are signs of users liking it more once use to.

Is this your way of saying STFU because I'm going to find a way to keep the change? If so, there still may be some hangings.

no! :) I think change maybe a little better, but I'm 100% for keeping FerrariChat stable because I'm the one that has to deal with you whiners any little change. I told dud and beaks it was more headache then worth, but they kept bugging me. :) at this point it is already a headache, so will do what is right and community wants. I think fair to see how much it is trending in favor. these things take time for users to get use to and certainly I've seen dozens of posts users saying they hated at first, but like better now.

All this trouble to make Beaker and a new guy happy. Hanging would be too kind for them.

Thanks for explaining, but it still sucks. That puts the burden on me to remember to click the button when I am done. If you are reading FC on a 2x4 cell phone, then that should be your problem. Just my opinion.

Would be nice if "the button" were ALSO located at the top of the page. Sometimes the top is closer than scrolling to the bottom when one finishes.

Unfortunately vBulletin makes that a global option.

Other forum software (remember vB is dead already and a switch is unavoidable) does not provide anything else than FC's recent change (no auto-reset of all Read status on every touching the forum).

It would be great, and help with this topic, if both the "New Posts" and the "Mark Forums Read" items would not go through a menu.

Apart from the additional click that also means that you cannot open them in a new tab with middle-click. That's pretty annoying (another VB bug).

Just FYI, I have found NOT using new posts one of the keys for happiness on Ferrari Chat. At any given time, there's at least one person who has done somebody wrong. Avoiding this spats is like avoiding wrecks on the freeway.

I think we need to open up a dedicated "RIP" section. Silver is turning into the guess who died game. It's like dinner with grandmother before she died (RIP). :D

When I was working, my organization produced a monthly newsletter, and I was responsible for producing the executive director's article. It was soooo hard!

It looks to me like the same phenomenon may be plaguing Rob or whoever is responsible for the items under the "News" link. The content that is there is fine, there's just not enough of it. Does the amount of news that apparently available justify that prime real estate on the menu bar?

we just got it started. there is only me and jack, I'm currently 120% capacity without doing articles and Jack is about 99% without articles. ;) Goal is about 1 a week, which I think is pretty good.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't/

"Growing pains" has been an apt descriptor many a time. It was "fun" getting images to work.

Quite a few wailing-and-gnashing-of-teeth torches-and-pitchforks snowflake threads during the month after the DW>VW switch. Some (primarily about Images) were started by you to seek solutions, without dwelling on problems. Signal-to-noise.

As time went by, not just new Ferrari Models were announced and requested or demanded SubForums created by painstaking moves by searching for Models from Ferrari *and* non-Ferrari to spin off/combine/recombine into whatever fired on X # of cylinders or other trait.

Nothing more fun than moving 10K threads. Either clicking one-at-a-time or via Google. Especially when there so many vague titles (Thanks, Carbon!). Or El Wayne's favorite, moving Venus' numerous all-size-fits-one threads. Derp.

Eventually, the anything-but-lazy work paid off to such an extent there was nothing to move and This Thread needed to be created. Signal-to-noise.

So, given this, that and the other, when Rob uses the words "busy" or "capacity" in regards to such matters, please believe it. If not that, then at least what it takes to make either an improvement or an "improvement" happen or go away, without everlasting vB support.

    Can I help? Pleeeease!

Unfortunately, even though the poll was solidly in favor of returning to the original system the "week long" experiment continues. :(
