I live in a state that could care less about a 20+ year old car on emissions..

    sooo

anyone ever remove all the emissions stuff from their cars? (charcoal etc, lines)

and yes, I searched. ZERO on this.

Are you ever going to sell the car?

If so, you might want to tripple think the problem for buyers in states who still care.

Agreed. My car came from VA, which has no emissions testing. The PO was running test pipes and had removed the CEL bulb since it was always on due to no cats being in the exhaust stream (O2 sensors were still in place).

This had me jumping through hoops when I bought the car because I had to get it inspected before I could register it, which had to be done within 30 days after the sale or else I'd have a fine tacked on to the normal reg fee. Since transport took over 2 weeks this left me just over a week to get it to a passing condition.

Luckily the PO was a great guy and supplied the OEM cats and CEL bulb in a box of original parts with the car. I had to swap the test pipes back to cats and install the CEL bulb, then clear all the codes, drive it enough to get the OBD readiness and then get it inspected/reg'd. It made for a hectic first week of ownership. If you ever plan to sell you'll either want to get the car back to OEM beforehand or at least supply as much OEM stuff to the new owner as possible, with info on what you've pulled out and why.

But we do have emissions testing in Northern Virginia.

    "Requirements:

Your vehicle must meet Virginia's emissions inspection requirements if it is garaged in one of the localities listed below:

Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, or Stafford
Cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas or Manassas Park"

I'm glad the PO kept the parts. It may even run better with the old parts in place since the ECU anticipates that there is a Catalytic converter between the upstream and downstream O2 sensors.

Not much that rubs power on these cars except for the cats.

Only think I do is modify the dry sump with a extra catch can to keep oil vapor from entering the intake.

Just because its labeled emission don't mean it rubs power

    :)

Actually the research into combustion efficiency in the name of environmentalism is the only reason we have cars as powerful as we do.

As far as taking it off and putting it away? Ground Hog Day. We been to that movie a thousand times already. Just a future case of another car missing a bunch of parts when the market place wants complete, un f**ked with cars and it will need to be given away.

You mean you dont like to sit at idle and smell it up until your eyes water?

Funny I was at a dealer the other day out here and not may cars had exhaust hoses on them. Every bay did not even have one

I have the full fabspeed system with cat deletes, love it. The piece of black electrical tape I put over the cel light still works great too:) Only drawback is a whiff of oil burn after high rpm/rapid stopping. I will install the trickery/reflash in the new year in case my electrical tape fails.
