So i have my coupe and spider both here side by side - the coupe has great room with sport seats both leg and back wise - the spider with the standard seats reminds me of the old mercedes sl500! there is no room!!!

this sucks!!! it is a huge difference!!!

does anyone know of its the standard seat(electric) thats causing the problem? im ready to re-order a new car im stressing out so bad anyone know?

You'll have more space with race seats. A lot of people have complained about it

I ordered the race seats on my 488 spider for the same reason you are having. There is a little more room with the race seats. My car is expected to arrive in January.

I have had 458 Italia/spider with full power in one and race seats in the other. As you have correctly pointed out, there is a huge difference in room - leg and head - between the 2 different seats.

In regards to the 488, my limited time I spent in one suggested that they have lowered the standard seat height vs 458. But, the mounting point of the race seat, combined with its thinner shell and lack of a protruding head rest still gives you more room than the standard seat.

I would decide based on your feeling about each seat's features unless you are so tall as to not have that luxury. I am a race seat guy and am quite small by US standards.

    Hi
From what I know of driving both cars (mine has not arrived yet) there is certainly more room behind the seats in the coupe and whatever seats you have in there I think you would certainly get more rake on the backrest. As for the reach, i.e. How far the seats will travel back on the runners I don't know but I guess it is the same. The seat height is definately lower with the sport seat irrespective of body type.

Just a suggestion here if you have both cars together at the same time.........

Why not take a tape measure to both seats and measure against a fixed point such as the footwell panel and headliner when they are both at the max setting and see if the issue is actually with the available space or with the type of seat that you have, as you have different seats in each car.

what are the specific issues that you are having is it height / reach/ rake or just general comfort?

Be interested to hear if there is much difference in the measurements... FWIW I have ordered the race seats in size L as they sit lower and look better and I don't need any electrical adjustment as I will be the only one driving it, and once I get it set up in the right space it won't need to move.

    Regards

    Michael

I just realized the exact same thing. I'm 6'3 and the Spider is not comfortable. I'm waiting to find a spider with racing seats to compare. If the racing seats aren't comfortable, I'm sticking with my coupe.
