Amazing how a couple of inches of snow just shuts everything down in Portland.
i have to take my F430 to the DMV to get title. you have 15 days and tomorrow is the last day. here's to hoping the roads aren't covered in rock and salt
Speaking of salting the roads, ODOT will start using it, allegedly selectively, state wide. see: ODOT changes policy, will consider using salt statewide | KGW.com Hello, body rot!
Yes, but I'll take that in exchange for less ice. It's only a few days a year here anyway, and I don't take the nice cars out in the snow on those days. Well, the Tesla, I suppose, but it's an aluminum body.
PDX catches a lot of national crap about this. I think it is partially due to the specific conditions--when it snows in PDX, it barely snows (typically temps are right around freezing, the first batch melts and turn into ice, etc.). I am in central Oregon this weekend where, recently, 20"+ of snow happened. Roads are in general okay (and bare pavement in many places, because the lows have been below zero and the highs in the low 20's--the stuff fell as very dry powder, and the conditions didnt' change it much). In PDX that rarely happens--I have had great traction (relatively) here in central Oregon (Jeep, mountain + snowflake Goodyear tires) whereas I had really poor traction relatively in PDX. It is a marginal conditions thing.
Here in Seattle a few years ago, the Mayor decided based on classical political correctness to shut down salt and sand on our hills and there were so many hurt with broadside accidents and people inconvenienced - Even in Communist downtown Seattle he got drummed out of office. It will be interesting to see if there is ever a sufficient backlash to have reason take over more than it has in PDX - before people start getting fired (oh wait - its probably a public Union - they can NEVER be fired - so put up with it PDX)
Same here; a little sliver of Multnomah County on the east side of Scholls Ferry. "Taxation without representation." What really annoys me is that police calls are under the sheriff's office's jurisdiction, and they take time to figure out who's taking the calls.
A little snow doesn't stop us in Bend. 18"overnight! Note the logo on the plow! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I took my Lambo out in central oregon(live in Bend for the winter) but with P Zero Nero's it only made it far enough for pics during our 18"+ of snow. A few days later the roads were dry and i went for a quick drive but to much cinder on the roads even for a Modesta covered car. Ferrari is at home in Portland and I know it wouldn't make it back into the garage if i were to have taken it out. Image Unavailable, Please Login
