Hadn't seen this before but thought it was cool. This is how they rigged up the 355 in Goldeneye to shoot the driving scenes. I believe the car was towed when set up this way. (You can see the camera control wires headed for the tow vehicle.)

Interesting stuff, Robb. Thanks for posting. Although I have to say that the focal point of that first pic is all wrong. ;)

If that shot were a little longer, you'd see the buttons start to get sticky...

I remember watching this scene in 1995 when I was 16 yrs old and I fell in love with the 355 !!! It was one of the first appearances of the 355 , back at a time when there was no Internet or Youtube to watch the car... Only car magazines where you saw photos and read reviews...

I never quite understood the comparison of the 355 to the DB5... In a real life race, the 355 would leave the DB5 so far behind... Besides that, it was a cool scene !!

The 355 from the movie "The Rock" was also cool !!

You are talking about the car?

(The 355 is an exciting car when driven fast on a twisty road lets not forget! ;) )

Based on the way "Xenia Onatopp" controls and recovers from the high speed spin on the gravel and gets the 355 back on the road to chase down the DB5 again, she's obviously a pretty decent driver, so I think the implication is that she's deliberately holding back to have some driving fun with Bond, and could actually just drive off into the sunset if she really wanted to.

(There's also a theory that the scene highlights Bonds amazing driving ability, hence being able to keep up with the faster car, but as I say, the 355 spin control shows that Onatopp is just as talented behind the wheel, so that theory makes little sense - But then again, it is a Bond movie!)

    The 355 or the Fiero kit-cars? ;)

If you watch the extras, there was a clause in the contract that stated the Ferrari had to win the race, but of course, Bond is portrayed as the best driver in the world! hence way the scene ended with a handbrake turn and a Smooch!

Judging by the grimace on her face I would say the spin was just luck, but let's not forget she can kill fat guys between her thighs!!

If I remember correctly there was also a small accident between the two, when she cut the corner!
