Should you start your car or not during Winter storage

  1. Start your car and let it get to operating temp (20 minutes)

  2. Don't start your car it will do more harm than good.

    Spoke with my mechanic at more length. His opinion is while theres more wear and tear, its still preferable to start the car so long as you get the motor oil up to temp- so letting it just idle there probably doesn't do it. You have to sit in it and give it some gentle revs.... I think it also depends if this is a car you will then drive when the weather gets better or if its one that is truly a garage queen and doesn't get driven very much ever....
