Hi all, recently I bought in Tokyo Mexico #AM112.390. Before it went to Japan it must have been in California for some time. There is a window sticker of the Maserati Club California and further investigations led me to Joseph T. Martin. It must have been a prominent person in Maserati circles, but he died in 2008. Chris Rose (thx again) provided me the adress of one daughter, which I contacted. She replied, that her sister would know more, but from there on nothing came up. The Mexico must have left California around 1996. It´s kind of gold with red interior. Don´t know how to upload some fotos. If anyone can fill some gaps, it would be fine. Dr. K.
Hello Dr. K.. Yes, you own the Joe Martin Gold Mexico. Joe started the TMC:California chapter back around 1996 or a couple of years earlier.. The car was in California in 1998, as I remember seeing it at the 1998 Maser Miglia event held in California... When Joe sold it to Japan, I am not sure. Joe eventually moved to Colorado, where he resided when he passed away! Mike
Hello again Dr.K... I was getting some of my Mexico technical information organized when I happened upon this.. Back in 1998, I was in the hunt for a Mexico. Back then there were very few available for sale in the US. When Joe Martin heard I was looking, he sent me the following regarding his car! I realize the quality is not that great, but this info may be of some use to you! Mike Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Mike, thanks very much for your information. The car is now in Germany sitting beside LBirds Mexico AM 112.854. He will upload some pictures in current condictionary the next days.

Mike, infos like yours are priceless. So nice to read that it belonged to a true Mexico lover. Wish I had infos like this about mine. Yes, it does look great!
A word of warning, it seems somebody is posting fake adverts about the Mexico VIN 40, by using photos from the Mexico registry. The latest of those fake adverts is on the Anamera website.
17.000 Euros is way on the cheap side, was wondering too why that car should be selling in Germany for that kind of ridiculously low price....

Lovely car, very refined, full of details. Maserati is elegance imho and this one perfectly embodies the word. Love those Frua work, might not be as "perfect" like the one of Pininfarina for Ferrari or "stunning" like Bertone for Lambo but there is a level of luxury, so many details that you can't find anywhere else (except Vignale imho). And Frua have those curves, those thin lines, thin pillars, those eyes , it's all very feminine, nothing vulgar in Frua's work. It might not be everyone taste because not macho enough but it's so elegant. Love it.
This one 112.001 is Frua bodied (as well as 112.003 and 112.F.588) Pietro Frua (1913-1983) - Maserati Mexico (I) 1967 Alfred
As alfred said, this Mexico is one of 3 (if we count the "Mistral/Mexico") one-off by Frua. There is the prototype Vignale and the slightly different regular production Vignale. Maybe other specials, but nothing comes to my mind at the moment. On this topic "Mexico Special"e, does anyone know what the Bertone looks like or should have looked like ? I read that they were asked like Frua and Vignale but I've seen nothing.
