You have to be ruthless in F1.

 

Tif12 is sooooo butthurt Rosberg beat Hamilton to the title this year.

Sort of like Merc never being able to run with the "garagistes" (LOL), he was just flat wrong about Rosberg and the speed he has had this whole time. I'll admit I was too, I knew he was fast, but not this fast.

 

To that, I will say that Rosberg DROVE like a team player, shared info, observed instructions, let his team mate through when instructed, etc... He was loyal to Mercedes until he won his title.

But ultimately Rosberg runs his life as he sees fit, and is master of his own career.

If leaving an employer in your own terms is considered "back stabbing", so be it.

Mercedes cannot complain if they feel left high and dry; they are still with a very good car, a good team and a top driver. Their problem will be to find, late in the season, another driver as good as Rosberg, and as amenable as he was.
Also, there is the issue with Paddy Lowe leaving ... but that's another story.

 

I meant to say Jenson could replace Bottas (or even Nicole AT MB) .

Of course Nicole has no interest in driving in F1 ever again..we will really miss him

 

With Pat Symmonds saying they cant let Bottas go ...i am starting to think the unthinkable....

IF MB really cannot find a sensible solurion PDQ, would they ever consider offering Nicole a huge increase in $$$ to match Lewis to haul him back in ?

I know he said he is done etc etc and im sure a lot of ill feelings being banded about regarding his shock departure.

Personally i think there is a far better chance of Toto taking Jenson for a 1 year deal and regroup for 2018 ,but F1 is a strange old place ,never say never.

Only difference is, we already know Hambone is not a team player.

Remember when Button joined Hamilton at McLaren and everyone here and elsewhere swore Button was gonna get embarrassed? Not only did Button hold his own, he scored more points than Hamilton during the 3 years they were both at the team together.

Now if some rookie/noob comes and schools Hamilton, he will certainly lose it. THAT would be funny!

Rosberg hits back at Hamilton complaints



World champion Nico Rosberg has hit back at his former teammate's complaints about losing key members of his race crew in 2016.

Prior to the 2016 season, Mercedes mixed up the two sides of the silver-clad garage, with Lewis Hamilton complaining ever since about the effect it had on his subsequent campaign.

But Rosberg, who beat Hamilton to the 2016 title and then promptly retired, told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: "I lost my mechanics, too. I also had to give him two of my engineers at the beginning of his time at Mercedes."

The German suggested this is just one titbit of his often thorny relationship with Hamilton that the public doesn't know about.

"That's the full truth," said Rosberg. "I could write a book about the rest. Maybe I will, one day. There are so many crazy and interesting stories."

 

In years to come, maybe we will learn fully about the atmosphere behind closed doors at Mercedes.

On the face of it, it's amazing that such a dysfunctional team obtained such success; it's all down to a superior car and full credit should go to the engineering team that created it.

Rosberg to remain Mercedes ambassador?



Nico Rosberg looks set to stay with Mercedes as a brand ambassador.

The German shocked the F1 world just five days after winning his first world championship late last year by announcing his retirement.

Rosberg has now been spotted on social media apparently refuelling a Ferrari 'LaFerrari' supercar, prompting wild speculation he might be about to leave the Mercedes brand.

But Rosberg explained to Germany's Auto Bild: "That is me (in the photo), but unfortunately the car belongs to a buddy who was paying for fuel."

Sport Bild reports that Rosberg is likely to remain a Mercedes brand ambassador in 2017, when he will officially be the sport's reigning world champion.

 

Just a feeble way to negotiate a softer exit from his new contract or maybe he's bored of all the free time he's now got to spend with his family.

Anyway why would Mercedes want to keep him as a brand ambassador after he so publicly turned his back on them. Puts a very mixed message out about their brand standards. Show some balls and cast him into the wilderness IMHO

Probably the same as most people - that Nico is a great ambassador with qualities that reflect well on their brand.

 

Is it possible to be a Mercedes Benz 'brand ambassador' sitting on your comfy sofa at home watching your old mate Lewis driving F1 ? Worthy WDC ? yeh right ....

+1, Hamilton does not appeal to everyone, they can hedge their bets with Nico.

 

He's not selling F1 cars...he's selling Merc street cars.

You expect recently retired athletes to continue to attend all events they just retired from? Uhm...ok. Sounds awful to me. Why even retire?

 

Outside of Germany he would be pretty much unheard of ..unless you happen to be an F1 fan.This is of course also the case with virtually all the other F1 drivers too.

He has instantly turned his back on the MB F1 team,why would he want to mess around at motor shows etc for MB?Hardly exciting stuff, talking to all those equally boring middle aged people with their hats on the back shelf etc etc.

I would think the F1 side of MB would not like him mooching around in the back of the garage,hoping he will disappear into oblivion asap.
