No affiliation - ran into it at one of my favorite website fixes - The best vintage and classic cars for sale online | Bring a Trailer here:

Drivable Automatic: 1984 Ferrari 400i Project | Bring a Trailer

Within it, the car is discussed amongst those who frequent and comment on the site, which never fail to cause a stir because of the various (and often negative) remarks. Nonetheless, this is the Craigslist ad in NY:

    Ferrari 400i

At supposedly only 10K miles, plus new paint at an asking price of $27.5K, the car does seem to have potential, no?

Sorry , that car has been used and abused, and not close to being a 10k mile car. Anything has potential, depending on how much you need to spend..

I'm NOT in denial of our cars' plus' and minus' but the comments at BAT and one here illustrate just how little people really know yet still feel compelled to run their mouth about them regurgitating the same stupid **** some other cretin said before.
No reason the car couldn't be 10k miles, not that it matters much.
I hope the car finds a good home.

My objections are to the ignorant posters passing on the usual. No offense to you intended.
As far as mile go, yes, I'd be skeptical but would interested to know the story. Lots of exotics get parked early or see little use over decades. After 30 years everything will look old unless maintained even if it was parked when new so I'd not automatically discount the claim.
All those Chevrolets kept from new or nearly new by an eccentric former dealer recently auctioned come to mind. Most looked like hell but were in some cases almost no miles.

I'm a bit surprised they didn't fill the holes for the Nader lights when doing the body & paint.

Google image search didn't turn up anything suspicious and price would be more attractive if a (knowledgeable)scammer.
The fact that the side lights weren't filled in while doing the body and paint perhaps indicates a firm DMV, perhaps CA. I wonder if NY pissy about these things?
I'll bet this one bounced around a bit, perhaps shedding parts along the way. Be on the lookout for a blue one* with 10k on the odo.

Owner says it's in CA sold on bill of sale only (Georgia car). Could be a great deal with a cash offer, or a total nightmare. Trying to decide how brave I am...

Sounds like an abandoned restoration with(maybe) a mechanic's lien. Better be sure you can get title.

All good Ross, no offense taken. Believe me I would love to see one of our cars brought back to it's former glory. Hope it does...:)

Just wanted to post in here and update this that this car is being traded privately currently. It is being sold out of the current owners collection priced at $42,500. It has been restored of sort.

I think it is a decent deal on the car but a little more than I want to bite off right now. Figured I would just update this thread. The car is located in IL
