Monaco will be even more of a procession than usual ! Also lots more potential for big accidents with higher cornering speeds and g forces all round.
I see what you are saying. What I'm saying is that currently they cannot push the cars in the race because of tires and fuel. Just look at the massive delta from qualy laps to race. Maybe the new tires allow them to push without destroying tires but I would assume fuel will then become the issue. Is that accurate or is my thinking off?
I think fuel will be a bigger issue in 2017 if left unchanged. How can you go faster with more throttle and not use more fuel. Weren't some cars on the brink on certain circuits? Are we going to be hearing more "lift and coast" Speaking of width issue... what about the Baku circuit? that little chicane between the buildings in the historic part of the circuit was tight for the current cars.
+1 as some former engineers now F1 writers have been stating in the press. Its getting difficult to see the overall benefits other than F1 made a 'change'....
Quite easily actually: 1. They have 5kg more fuel this year 2. No freeze on engine development so combustion engines will burn less fuel 3. Increased drag means slower acceleration on a like for like bhp basis leading to... 4. Potentially lower corner entry speed and higher cornering g means less braking required and more speed on corner exit so less wasted fuel.
That's also what Hamilton and Alonso said when asked in a press conference. Basically that it will be the same issue - saving fuel and tires. The changes to the floor/diffuser should, in theory, make it possible for the cars to be closer to each other without the dirty air making the trailing car as unstable. We'll have to wait and see though.
