The original HGTE packages were dealer installed.

There's an HGTE package for sale on Ebay for $15k including the wheels.

If I'm not mistaken, that was a $40k package???

    I think it's a steal for anyone with a 599...

Orignal package was factory installed, some have had it retrofitted after though.

That change at 156938 was apparently close to the change in MY designation from 2007 my to 2008 my on the door plate. Could. Be some 2007 599s with the new ECU ,but not many. We Need a 599 sticky tech thread like Taz did for the 550s and 575s so this info is quickly available.

    Hello All

Looking at two 599's here in Aus.

2010 Black with red interior 13,000km $499k (Im told it was the last one delivered in the country)
    2007 Red with Tan interior 10,000km $349k

Assuming both are in good condition, do you think theres any good reason to pay the premium for the 2010?

    Thank you

If the 2007 has the CCMs and 20" wheels, not much difference in the two that you will be able to see or feel if the 2010 does not have HGTE. Main difference is Motronic 7.1.1 on the 07 and 7.3.2 on the 10.

As far as I know the 2010 doesn't have the HGTE and he 2007 does have 20" wheels and possibly CCM's

I know prices are different in various markets but would you then say the 2010 (10,000kms) without HGTE vs a 2007 (13,000kms) is worth a 41% premium??

    Thank you

HGTE should hold value much better than a standard 599 and you will recover the price difference when (if) you will sell the car, and if you are lucky enough it might rise in value. Personally I would chose the HGTE but not in this color.

As far as I know none of the cars above have the HGTE, and there are only 3GTB's advertised for sale nationally (plus a GTO)

Still wondering if the 2010 justifies a 41-42% premium

If all cars are GTB price difference is not (at all) justified and I would go for the cheapest - as long equipment, mileage and condition is similar.

Thanks Glob. Fingers crossed all goes well this end. Both GTB as far as I know, and neither HGTE.

I was told to stay away from HGTE as it made the ride rougher

Good luck, and the red one is the nicest in my opinion.

Thanks I am leaning towards the red one as well, and the price is just a bonus. Obviously subject to a full pre purchase inspection from my local dealer

From the photos, the 07 does have the CCM brakes and the 2010 is not an HGTE. Personally would prefer the 07, especially for that kind of price difference. 5 years from now, there will not be that big a difference, so hang on to her.

Mum thoughts exactly. Also seeing as there are no crazy differences between MY's I guess there's no real reason to go for the black one (plus I prefer red anyway)

Going to view the red one early next week, let's see how we go :)

It really didn't change the ride that much. Going to MPSS tires will smooth out the ride and then some. So I wouldn't worry about degraded ride. Frankly, if your roads are that bad, neither GTB nor HGTE will give you a truly plush ride.

HGTE 599s have slightly stiffer springs, a thicker rear anti-roll bar, and the same shocks as the standard 599, so ride should not be that much rougher. Sounds like somebody trying to sell a plain Jane 599 that did not have an HGTE in stock.

My HGTE rides quite comfortably, not harsh in the least bit either city or highway. Sounds like BS to me.
