747-8: Flight Report

I think that I mentioned it once before. When our home was on the beach I occasionally landed landed there and there was always an off shore breeze. I played a game by setting up an approach over the Gulf and let the crosswind drift the airplane toward the beach. When the guess of where we would end up was correct and I was over the beach and near the end of the final, I put the up-wind wing down and added some rudder into the breeze and straightened it out just before touchdown. Leaving the wing down all the time. If the breeze was too strong , I took off again because there was no room on the beach to weather cock the airplane. Of course, the best time to do this was just before sunset when it was calm and when the tide was out , leaving more hard sand to land on. Now a 12 story hotel sits on the beach and what was left of the beach is now gone. Before the war the flying gang used to land on the beach south of us (Crecsent Beach) with as many as 10 vintage airplanes, Stinsons, Wacos, Travel Air, etc. It is now a public beach controlled by the county. Them were the days!

 

757 and 767 are the only two aircraft ever made that have the same type. I routinely go back and forth between the two, they really are very similar in the way they fly.

I believe he's referring to type rating.

Airbus 330 and 350 also have same

 

I recall making the drawings of the RVR for the 757,767,and 777 and the powers that be tried to have all of them the same and I think that we achieved it. A strong reason was to make the changes from one aircraft to the other as minimal as possible. All had the same windshield with small tweaks on the 757 and 777.
