Hey Group, Is a $2,400 damage claim on a front bumper of a 360 a big deal? Occurred in 2006 and shows up on Car Proof. Owner has invoice of repair and where it was done. My thought is no since most front bumpers on these cars have been painted. Thoughts?
$2400 isn't much and suggests it was just a crack of the plastic and bumper replacement with no structural damage beneath. It is a big deal if someone is trying to sell you a garage queen for a kings ransom, but for a drivers car with some miles it shouldn't be an issue... Just have a good PPI.
Thats the bumper cover and/or respray. Any significant damage would have an extra zero on it. All bumpers will get chipped/dinged/scuffed/cracked if you drive the car and own it long enough.
The dollar amount is meaningless but if it shows up on carproof/carfax it is a big deal when you go to sell. You may not care but most people will not want to be saddled with that unless they get a very good deal up front. A member here recently had to sell a great F430 Spider for a ridiculously low price to another member here because the same type of repair you are describing was handled through insurance and showed up on carfax. Not fair but true.
My Mercedes was in the gasoline station and a truck with a winch back up to it. No big deal. Replaced the rear bumper $3500. Show a picture before and after. Show me the receipt. We are done.
I don't think it matters. Kind of a slippery slope though...if painted or replaced bumpers don't matter, why should painted doors, hood etc?
A skittish buyer will talk themselves out of anything! "The lugnuts had some of the chrome flaking" or there was some dust in the engine bay...
It is a shame when people talk about things like this. It is a car and if driven things happen. some of the cars that I took to the drags are no longer driven because of what they are worth. Put art on the wall, drive the cars and fix the damage---
I think front bumper repair is no big deal... If the paint is matched properly, it could be as good as new... Usually such items would not show up on CarFax, but probably it was an insurance claim.. No big deal..
I had a bigger replacement amount for the front bumper of my Viper! I don't think that's much at all! Damn armadillos! Lol Image Unavailable, Please Login
2,400 is exactly what I paid to re-spray my front bumper to fix scrapes on the black area and rock chips, I installed a clear bra (xpel) afterwards My bumper was not repaired though but I don't think is a big deal, if you are trying to sell the car and use a front bumper repair that is not due to a front end accident as a "story" is a tire kicker.
