Willi Weber criticized the family for not telling the fans the true story of MS' condition. He states that after 3 years everybody has waited long enough

Family should tell truth about Schumacher says Weber

Michael Schumacher's former long-time manager has criticised the F1 legend's family.

Willi Weber, who guided Schumacher's ultra-successful career from the junior categories and onto titles with Benetton and Ferrari, thinks the German's family and management is wrong to have shut out the world in the wake of his 2013 skiing crash and injuries.

"For some time now, I've been saying that the Schumacher family is not telling the whole truth," Weber told the German weekly magazine Bunte.

"It's time to pour pure wine for his millions of fans," he added, referring to the fact that almost nothing is known about 48-year-old Schumacher's current health status.

"But I'm biting on granite, because for a long time my advice is no longer heard," Weber said.

But he said he remains hopeful that he will again talk to his old friend some day.

"When I'm home alone and the phone rings, I often feel that it will be Michael saying 'Willi, how's it going?' Hope dies last," said Weber.

He's an idiot or a cretin.

Michael is obviously not in good shape and his public life is over. Enough is known about the struggles of those with traumatic brain injuries that we need not upset the Schumacher family by demanding details. It's clear that the way they want Michael remembered is as a prolific Formula 1 champion - the greatest of all time - not to leave the lasting impression of an invalid struggling desperately with day to day living.

As someone who knew and worked with the Schumachers, he should understand that and show them this respect, not add to the pressure (and reward) for paparazzi to invade Michael's privacy.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Few topics have divided regular F'Chatters to the degree that this one has. I'm really in the same camp as NeuroBeaker on disseminating info on Schumacher's condition. There is one saving grace here: one thing we DO all agree on is that we wish Michael the best in his recovery.

    Here here

And on Willi Weber, I hope that he has been quoted out of context, typical of the press, as otherwise his own reputation will forever be revised to 'fool'

We have no "right" to anything about Michael's private life. That's between him and his family.

Our job is to send our hopes and prayers that he gets better. It's not to pass speculation and rumor or make demands for anything.

    Get well Michael.

If I say, "I don't understand something" would you reply with a caustic comment. Like ELP_JC, I to do not understand the mentality of the family of a public figure. That does not suggest his family owes me anything, but simply that I don't understand what they are doing.

Willi Weber always had MS's best interests at heart--according to MS himself.

There is no harm in WW expressing his opinion and making a heartfelt suggestion to the family. More than every single person on this board, WW has the right to express his opinion as he was basically 'family' to MS.

Respectfully, I disagree. WW has every right to express himself on this issue, and I wish that the family would listen.

Sure there is harm - he is doing so publicly and applying pressure to the family to do something for other people rather than focusing on themselves. That's incredibly selfish and wrong to many people - as you can see from 99% of the opinions expressed here. Likewise, the people here want to know as badly as anyone what's going on with one of their heroes, yet they realize that the moral thing to do is to respect the family's wishes and simply wish them luck in their struggle.

The flip side of this is that they still peddle MS collection stuff. It is not like they have withdrawn from the world. Sounds to me like they want to have it both ways and a foto of a crippled MS would hurt sales

I don't agree. There is no implied level of involvement from him or the family because they sell merchandise. I think most realistic people know what his condition is after a bad head injury.

People are buying because they are a fan of what he accomplished in the past. Look at all the official Senna merchandise you can buy as another example.

You can buy Nuvolari memorabilia too, so I don't see the harm done in selling MS gear, personally.

Alive or dead, heroes will always attract followers.

Oh come on, he is just desperate to have zero news from his old friend after a so long time. Everybody would react like him. Schumacher's family forbids nearly all his friends to see him and doesn't give them news, as if they were parasites. What the hell is that ? And what's next ?
Lock him up in his room for the 30-40 coming years, so that absolutely nobody can ever see him, apart from "loving" family ? (I hope he doesn"t survive that long to this total hell though, but I think he will, as his wife looks to be a partisan of therapeutic obstinacy, according to the "keep fighting initiative").

  20. I think not. Have you read the posts here??? Making one's desires public is not
    what everybody would do.

Are there Schumacher friends here ? I don't think so. And it's not about making things public, but just about giving news to his friends, or simply be honest with them. Weber said before, that Corinna Schumacher was constantly making lame excuses in order to prevent him from seeing his old friend.

How narcissistic do you have to be to make someone else's tragedy about you?

Some friends have seen Michael - Jean Todt for one. And what came of that? A ton of misquotes in the media and controversy when he gave the most basic of updates.

Isn't it obvious that Michael cannot even communicate effectively? If he could, then he would surely want to speak to friends or issue a statement. Can't you connect the dots?

"Seeing" Michael would likely entail Corina entertaining questions and glum looks from friends for an hour, over and over again while they observe Michael in a diminished sate. I'm sure you can appreciate how awful this would be especially for someone with as many friends as Michael.

Having cared for someone dying of terminal cancer, I can tell you that the burden of explaining things repeatedly to friends is unbelievable; especially when there is no hope of recovery.

Of course, it's more comfortable to jail her husband and make him her exclusive property. All of this while she's publically riding her horse worlwide, making big smiles to paparazzis. THAT is narcissistic.
Sorry not to believe to the "perfect wife" versus the villain friends story.
