The roof of my Superamerica has a delamination problem. The ECU was replaced some years ago but of course the delamination is still there.

New roofs are currently available : my F dealer indicated that he saw 10 units in-stock last month on the Ferrari spare parts ordering system. I ordered one assuming that perhaps one day it may become impossible to find.

I would like to know from those who got their roof replaced if it did solve the delamination problem for good, or if in some cases the problem ocurred again.

    Any input would be welcome!

Replacement roofs have improved technology and the problem is gone.
My car had the roof replaced in 2012 and 9k miles and 4 years later still looked like new.

No problem with my replacement roof Jacques, it's been at least 7 years since replacement. If your dealer has found availability, order one. The last time I enquired I was told that the factory no longer had stock.

I just replaced mine and it works flawlessly. I changed it as soon as possible so I don't have to worry about sourcing a new unit in the near future.

Agree, if your dealer has found availability, order one.

Unfortunately, what the dealer system shows, and what is actually is available are two different things. This is Ferrari your dealing with, not Mercedes or even Ford for that matter.

The amount of times I have ordered parts from the dealer based on what the stock levels indicate only to have the factory come back months later saying no longer available is countless. On many occasions they don't even update the system once they know.

Thanks to all of you for your feedback. My dealer just received my new roof. Based on your experiences, I will have it fitted on my car ASAP!

Jacques, what did the new glass roof cost? Did you replace the mechanical carriage too, or just the roof?

I will only replace the roof as the rest is OK, no strut problem, nothing.

Pricing is a long story: initial quote from my dealer one year ago was 23.000€, which I accepted. Once the part arrived (very recently), this price raised to 37.000€ which I did not accept. We eventually reached a compromise but I guess that 37.000€ is the list price for now.

Honestly I wouldn't have taken it for that price and you will understand that I wish to be 100% certain that the new roof will not delaminate again!

My local Ferrari dealer (Ferrari of Washington) just told me that 13 glass roofs are shown as available, with a retail price of $63,300 (U.S. dollars)!! That's 59,300 Euros. Jacques, you got a deal!

that's more than double what the price was when the original top was replaced in my SuperAmerica! Jacques, what is the dealer charging for the installation?

Hard to believe they have gotten that expensive. Ferrari used to swap them out under warranty even after the warranty expired. Guess those days are gone.

Once the roof has been replaced how long will the news ones last? Is the roof an ongoing consumable item that needs to budgeted?

Correct. Wrong word. Should it be expected to replace them every 8-12 years or did Ferrari correct the problem with updated roofs?

There were two problems initially, one with the ECU fixed via campaign, and one with roof/top itself. Seems like they have been much better once both were fixed.

Just get the one without the top (Barchetta) so you won't have to worry about this issue.

I got the new roof installed 5 years ago, no more issue since then. It works perfectly.
